Eric Berkey founded Berkey Home Builders in 2002, and for the past decade has been building quality homes for Central Iowa homebuyers. Eric worked his way up through the construction business, gaining experience both as a craftsman and a businessman. Eric understands the need to fully manage a project to meet a client's expectations.
Berkey Home Builders currently has lots in the following Central Iowa developments for purchase. Once you've secured a lot, you may choose from any of our available floor plans or we will custom build a plan that's right for you. We are always purchasing new lots for construction. This was the first time going through the new construction process. Prior to this process I constantly heard 'if you build a new home you will never want to do it again.' I was extremely impressed with the communication when drawings and construction didn't line up. Several options were brought forward that would allow me to hit budget and still have superior quality.

I have worked as a Realtor both on the listing side and seller side of Berkey Home Builders transactions and their process is easy and smooth. Berkey takes the time upfront with the homeowners to make their selections so they don't get themselves into a situation of upgrades tacked on at the end which makes the consumer uncomfortable. They know before building their final price. They offer an inhouse designer which allows the buyers to visualize their selections on a 3-D rendering. Their finished product is impressive and Eric makes sure the buyers understand they can make cosmetic things later

Eric and his team built my home 4 years ago in Fieldstone Estates in Altoona, Iowa. The process was very easy. They used only top notch products and finishes. You simply do not see the same finishes used by other builders, tall base, trim, cabinets, counters. Oh and Eric finishes his projects on time and on budget!
I have had zero issues with my home. If you are building a home you would be crazy not to at least consider Eric Burkey to do it for you. He’s a trustworthy builder who cares about the quality of the homes he is building and the community he lives in.

Would love to give a better rating since they built our home which we have enjoyed. However the process was anything but smooth and the builders were difficult to work and misleading/dishonest at times They seemed to have cut corners and used cheap materials and (inexperienced) subcontractors. Our next home will not be built by Berkey.
