Ray and Sandy Oberreuter are originally from Iowa. After Ray went to school to learn RV repair in Bowling Green, KY their traveling lifestyle began. They spent their winters in Arizona among the snowbirds and different summer locations in the West. Tough Tops went from two people making awnings in garages, and even in a storage unit in Colorado, renting a building in Battle Ground, WA to a larger facility in Vancouver, WA.
Last year we purchased a facility in Hockenson, WA where we can really expand the business in the coming years. Ray and Sandy are now retired but the business is still family owned. Tyler and their daughter Christie run the day to day operations, and their son Rick handles the graphic design and marketing.
Even their grandson and granddaughter have been in some of the how-to videos. Tough Tops started with one part-time employee and now have three wonderful employees: Matt, Geoffrey and Taylor. Our family theme continues with three of the employees being related. They all are hard workers and learned the craft quickly.

Services
We have said many times how much we love the RV industry and feel honored to be part of it, we love meeting all the wonderful RVers and enjoy helping each one of you find the replacement RV awning for your RV or trailer! We have been in business for over 12 years now, and we have added many new products over the years.
In simple terms what is our Patio / Main RV Awning? Either an electric or manually operated awning that comes out over the passenger side of a coach or trailer that extends approximately 8 feet over the main entry door. Our awnings offer full extension same as original awning/one piece fabric with valance/no splicing of fabric.
In simple terms what is our Slide out Topper Replacement Fabric? It's a Slide Out Topper RV Awning. Also called bump outs, tip outs, and room extensions. It's a fabric that attaches to the coach or a guard to a roller tube that covers a slide out (bump out) room that extends from a coaches side. All our materials we use are proprietary to Tough Top Awnings and we only use high quality vinyl.
Carefree of Colorado made a style of awnings called Omega from 1999 to 2005. During that time they had 3 styles: Omega 1 and Omega 2 with Valance, and Omega 2 without Valance. Omega was a hybrid of slide topper and window cover in one. So, it acted like a regular slide topper but you could unlock it once the slide was extended and it would come down to cover the window.
This fabric panel inserts into your main pull down patio awning to extend and add some privacy to your outdoor living. By inserting our custom made privacy panel into the same slot that holds your pull strap when your awning is deployed, and securing it with the grommets on the bottom, you can extend your outdoor living space.

We are so happy with our new slide out awnings! We weren’t as skilled as the folks in the video, but we did get the large slide out and the bedroom slide out done in about 2 hours. Easy, Peazy! We also had to make one call for a quick question and the phone was answered by a human who spoke English and answered our question promptly - Thanks ToughTop! We have already begun recommending you to our friends.

Excellent product, great service, excellent support. We purchased a patio awning and a slide topper for our 04 Winnebago sightseer. Service was responsive with any questions I had, they called and emailed. I knew what was going on. The videos and other support was especially well done and very helpful. It was right on. The awning arrived and there was a slight misunderstanding on the order. They made it right immediately and got me the correct awning. The awnings were beautiful. Quality vinyl and well stitched. Everything fit and worked better than expected. The installation was easy and pain free

Received my mainpationawning with a number of pinholes and returned it to tough top. They gave me a bad time telling me pinholes will disappear once it's installed. Then I had to pay postage at $58.15 dollars. They tried to sell me that holes light shown through would disappear. I'm a engineer an didn't buy it.
Don't recommend this awning or people I did business with.

I had questions initially about ordering, Christie was quick to reply. The online ordering process was easy and straightforward. I had it shipped to me in Canada and considering the issue of COVID and shipping is slow I got the product very quickly. The longest part was the shipping, the wait for manufacture by Tough Top was minimal. The product looks good, I have yet to install it. Based on my experience to date I would not hesitate to recommend Tough Top Awnings or to use them again. There are also a number of videos on their website and on YouTube about how to install their products which is

Ordered an awning from Tough Top Awnings and received it in record time(two weeks). It was a special size and it was everything I had hoped it would be. Installed it myself with the help of my brother after watching a couple of videos and it fit perfectly. The color is spot on and the material is of a much higher quality than the one I removed. I will recommend Tough Top Awnings to anyone who asks me where I got my great looking awning. I couldn't be happier!

Tyler was most helpful in my awning purchases, I've bought 2 from Tough Tops. I'll be buying more as I need them. TT is awesome with the videos they have created to help everyone replace their own fabrics or repair the mechanisms. I highly recommend TT's for replacing bad awnings. I won't shop elsewhere.

We received a defective main awning, it was full of pin holes where the folds were out of the box. Update 5/11/19. Spoke to company rep. today about the apparent defects in the finish coat. They say it will fill in after 14 days once it is installed. I was impressed by thier willingness to honor 100 satisfaction guarantee. I am going to install it and wait 14 days then inspected it. I will update after final inspection. Maybe a cumstomer education issue for me. Seems like some kind of self leveling. Bottom line the was willing to completely refund all money or replace it. I was not aware that once

After some researching found Tough Top Awnings highly recommended by many. Was going to be in the Vancouver area so contacted them. Provided a estimate by email for four new slide toppers on our motorhome. Made an appointment for the next week. Arrived their shop - work started immediately. Just a couple hours later all was done.
Great products and service. Highly recommend.

The quality of the slideout awnings is far better than I expected. It's definitely about twice as thick as the OEM awnings. The price was also with her than I expected. Every place I called was about double. Installing them was simple, with the exception of difficulties that were presented by my particular motorhome. The price is right, the quality is good and I highly recommend this company.

I read about these guys on the irv2 website. I needed to replace one of my Carefree slide top awning fabrics. I spoke with Tyler on the phone who quickly answered my questions. A couple of days later I had my fabric (with instructions included) and I installed it myself.
I took off one star due to limited color selections. As a result, the new fabric is a different color (white) than the existing awnings (dark green).
