Castor Architecture is based in Mill Valley, California, with projects from Marin County and the Wine Country to San Francisco and the Peninsula, Southern California and beyond. For the past 20 years we have specialized in custom, single-family residential design, ranging from the construction of new homes on open land to the renovation of existing structures in urban settings.
More recently, our body of work has grown to include mixed-use, multi-family, affordable, and manufactured/modular housing. We are happiest when presented with challenging assignments. Difficult parameters encourage responses that are authentic rather than generic, personal rather than "perfect". Instead of employing a signature style, we relish the freedom to create unique connections to specific places.
The styles may vary, but our guiding motivations remain the same. Inch-perfect space planning, intuitive command of scale and proportion, and mastery of sculptural composition - these are the hallmarks of our work.

I'm looking to buy a house in Marin County. I wanted to talk to an architect to make a more informed buying decision. So, somewhat randomly, I called Daniel. He took the time to give me a rundown of things to look for and things to watch out for when buying a house in Mill Valley. He was very honest, patient, and informative. We hired Daniel Castor to accomplish a major remodel of our Belvedere home. He did the design work and working drawings and was able to get the City to approve our plans without any issues. He has an excellent sense of design and we loved the exterior look as well as the interiors. It was a fairly complicated remodel and he was always available and responsive to all the issues that came up. We highly recommend his firm if you are looking for high-quality and design excellence. Daniel Castor did a re-design of our 1950s home in the Mesa neighborhood of Palm Springs — to open it up, modernize it while retaining its mid-century vibe, and add great exterior living space. He did a superb job of executing both on ideas that we communicated and adding features and improvements that we never imagined but are now key to our enjoyment of the house.

Daniel and his team did a fantastic job helping us through a recent project in Tiburon to remodel and modestly expand our 1960s mid-century home. Daniel was referred to me by my original architect who retired mid-project. Despite inheriting an initial design, Daniel rapidly got up to speed and helped us complete the project, navigating reviews with the building department, permits, as well as some additional alterations after we got started.

Daniel Castor of Castor Architecture was the perfect person to guide the remodel of our unique home, a former church in Mill Valley. Our project included the full remodel of the kitchen/sanctuary space and three bathrooms, a reconfigured entry, and the addition of a new guest bath. I enjoyed working with Daniel on our residential remodel and would recommend him to anyone needing architectural services. Daniel knew the in's/out's of navigating working with the City of Mill Valley which is so important - I didn't want to have weeks or months of back-and-forth that delayed our project.
