Toilet Installation Remove the rag from the toilet's waste pipe, and set a wax ring down around its base. This is what will seal the toilet and keep water from leaking out. Position the wax ring around the waste pipe evenly and lift the toilet up above it. Set the toilet down on the wax ring at a slight angle and twist the toilet sharply forward into place.
