Services
The primary mission for East River Energy, Petroleum Distributor, is at the least to sustain, but moreover, improve the lives of our customers and help meet the basic needs of human comforts with particular attention to providing heating equipment and the proper petroleum products that will keep them safe and warm in their homes and businesses.
Our journey began in September of 1984 when Ed Walker founded East River Oil in a little office on State Street in Guilford, CT. The following year, current President and CEO Don Herzog joined East River Oil, bringing a wealth of sales experience with commercial, governmental, and municipal entities to guide the company to the next level.
Locally owned and operated in Guilford, CT since 1984, East River Energy prides itself on reliability, consistency, and premium service for each and every one of our customers. Economical - According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration for the past 16 years, heating oil has been a better value than gas heat in Connecticut.
East River Energy is uniquely positioned to offer propane to residential customers across the state of CT. Did you know that almost 90% of the propane used in the United States is produced domestically? Propane is a natural gas which means it is not "made" of other raw materials, but instead "found" in petroleum chemical mixtures deep within the Earth.

Probably being generous with a two rating since after over 20 years as a customer I am totally disappointed in the service we received. Furnace is flooding by basement to stop it we have to turn off the furnace which means no heat in frigid temps or have heat and let it flood. Tech shows up thankfully the same day at 4:58pm after two calls to the… office says oh this is a big job have to call my boss. Boss says I can’t have you stay there for that many hours to fix it maybe they can call a plumber and tells him to leave! Good luck with that at 5:00 at night. Also my husband had explain

My mom lives in West Haven. After 40 years her furnace needed replacing. She told me that she was getting estimates from her oil company and other contractors and the estimates were ranging from $15,000 to $30,000. I thought that sounded ridiculous and I was worried that people were preying on her. I remembered that my old West Haven High School classmate and football teammate, Don Herzog is in that business so I contacted him. They sent George McQueeney out to look at her furnace and they are going to take care of it for well under $10,000. If you are looking for good honest service, call

I wasn't even an existing customer as I had just moved into a new house and knew nothing about oil.... I ran out of oil and my furnace cut out, these guys came right out for an emergency call and got some oil in my tank for me and got me back up n running while explaining everything to me. Great Service, Great Tech!!!!
