History Report

Swaner Hardwood was founded in 1967 by Keith M. Swaner. Keith began his career in the forest products industry at E.L. Bruce Co. after returning home from Naval duty in WWII. In the following years he managed Angeles Hardwood Co. in Los Angeles where he distributed hardwood products. In 1967, Keith left Angeles Hardwood Co. and set off to establish Swaner Hardwood.

Amazing product and outstanding customer service. I was unfamiliar with Swaner until I stumbled across their hardwoods on Home Depot's website. Intrigued by the home delivery option, I ordered a small bundle. I rec'd the incorrect size, so I gave Swaner a call. Within 48 hours, they had the correct item at my doorstep. Their customer service was great! I'm very impressed with the quality of the S4S boards--clean, straight, good character and color. They have some great domestic products you can't find anywhere else. However, I have to give them a 1 star review for stocking African Mahogany. African Mahogany is cut down from shrinking rainforests in Central Africa. It's extremely unethical to continue stocking that species. They should know better and stick to domestic wood products.

Despite a miss shipment of product and some confusion, they did more than make it right without any extra fees and costs.
It means a lot when a service is provided two fold after confusion with shipment during this crazy time.
The wood is outstanding in quality and cut. Overall, it was worth the time awaiting the final product.

The guy in charge of shipping is very rude and disrespectful to drivers . Started mouthing and shaking his head before he even asked any questions about where I was going. Very small area employees cars parked everywhere which makes it even harder to get around. Won't ever come back here

This place is great for hardwood, although more geared towards high volume commercial customers. The hardwood department was super helpful and the prices are great. The plywood customer service seems to be separate and I would not recommend it for that.
