Chester Design, LLC is a landscape architectural firm founded in 2005 to provide landscape design services. Founder and principal, Frances Chester, has over 25 years of experience as a landscape architect. She is a licensed landscape architect in the states of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. In 2012 she obtained a Certificate in Healthcare Garden Design from the Chicago Botanical Garden.

Her work experience includes large commercial and institutional projects, as well as private residences. Since 1991 her work has focused exclusively on residential projects in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. In her work she strives to deliver high-quality, detail-oriented designs that treat the outside living environment as carefully as the interior living space of her client's residences.

She does this by developing a program based on the characteristics of the individual properties and her client's personal tastes and lifestyle. This program serves as the basis for the design of the project.
Services
Located in Bedminster, New Jersey, this parcel, once part of a larger family estate, required its own identity in order to establish itself as a new individual property. Beginning with a master plan, Chester Design established plantings along the road at the property frontage, designed new piers with gates, realigned the driveway that lead uphill.
A Sense of Arrival - Many properties are beautiful unto themselves, but they have functional problems that have to be reckoned with. In this case, an old farm house located on a 7-acre parcel of land was positioned in the upper corner of the parcel. The front of the house was 50 feet off of the side property line.
A Summer Getaway - Located on 4 acres, this new, custom-built home serves as a weekend retreat for family and friends. Used primarily in the summer, this site was designed to provide entertainment for all ages and to accommodate large gatherings, both formal and relaxed.
Elements of Asian Design - Located in a historic suburban neighborhood, this 1.4-acre property was dominated by huge oak trees and a mature landscape that had suffered severe impact from construction during the home's recent renovation. Heavily influenced by their time spent abroad, the owners of this property wanted to incorporate new elements of Asian design into the landscape.
Nestled In The Woods - Situated on a corner lot in a historic suburban neighborhood, this traditional Tutor style home presented challenges of buffering both views and noises from busy adjacent roads, as well as fulfilling the owner's desire of having a home that was nestled in the woods. To this end, a lush landscape was created using a broad palate of trees, shrubs, perennials and water features.
