I called David to consult with him about a chimney on my home that is a stone chimney. It leaked to the point of doing damage to the ceiling in the living room. I directed David to photos that were online so he could see the style of chimney. He stated stone chimneys are notorious for leaking. He stated that this type of chimney would have to either be redone by a mason which would cost between $4,000 and $5,000 dollars, or require maintenance every year or two with the likelihood of it leaking again. He stated the best solution long term would be to remove it since I’m not using the fireplace

Inspected flue pipe and determined it was completely blocked. Regular furnace service guys never checked this. All the combustion gases from the furnace and hot water heater had been going into the house for a long time. Mr. Chimney Man probably saved our lives. Highly recommended. On two occasions I have contacted him and to my astonishment he has not charged me a penny! I can not wait to have a repair where I can actually be able to pay him for his service!
Once he inspected our fireplace and said there was no service needed at the time and it was "no charge". Recently I called with a issue with our damper. He explained how I could repair it myself with ease and once again "no charge". If I could not make the repair suggested he offered to come by for a minimal service fee. I followed his direction and the repair was as easy as he said

I knew that I had some issues, long overdue to be looked at on my chimney and chimney crown. Dave was prompt, professional and answered all of my many questions. I thought that the cracks in the masonry at the crown were not repairable, and the crown world have to be replaced. He evaluated it, told me it was repairable, and gave me a quote, as well as a quote to repair the flashing. Did a great job, and also addressed issues on my furnace chimney at no extra charge. Came back 2 days later to inspect his work, and make sure that a hard rain that occurred after his repair did not affect it. Great

Dave is amazing! He was extremely professional and has a great deal of knowledge. He took the time to explain lots of different options to us and likely saved us a great deal of money that we would have spent unnecessarily if we had contacted a different company. We never felt like he was rushing to be done with the job. As a bonus, he was very kind to our children. I would not consider Dave ordinary compared to other contractors. Seems today many contractors are not responsive, that was not the case with Dave. Dave was prompt with his estimate, understood our needs, was fair with his pricing, and even made accomodations to push our job timeline up because our house was being on the market for sale. Our repair required significant demolition and the area including my roof and gutters were cleaner after Dave worked than before he arrived. I met David R Doherty 18 years ago ... when I had just moved into my 80 year old home in Dewitt. When he arrived at my door I was feeling very vulnerable.
