John and Charlie worked with us (which is not easy with how obsessive we are about such a purchase) to pick just the right gas fireplace insert to replace an old wood stove insert in our older home. A careful installation with some custom tweaks make the Mendota we selected look like an original element in the room. Their effort was much appreciated. The fire itself looks for all the world like a real wood fire. A wonderful addition to our home. Just the thing on a cool or cold day to fire up and enjoy with a book or a dram or both!

As I read the other reviews here, I wonder if I have just caught these people on a couple of bad days. My first experience in the store about a year ago was underwhelming. I found the salesperson to be condescending. Wound up buying an item from them anyway because of the look and quality of the item. The person who delivered and installed the product was friendly and helpful, so 2 stars instead of just 1. I called the store today because of a technical issue and the person I spoke to on the phone (who sounded suspiciously similar in tone to the person I encountered in my first visit) was not helpful

It’s Christmas!! Life is hectic for most and I need to share a blessing with all who are considering being a customer of Cricket on the Hearth.
We were having a critical situation with our gas stoves. Unfortunately the company that services our stoves had to cancel our service appointment on 12/23. Sadly they had nothing available during the window of time we needed heat.
We are blessed to spend the winter months in Florida but when we are home for one week at Christmas it’s critical the stoves are working properly. I made a couple calls seeking out a company that could service our stoves

I had bought a 70’s house with a fireplace that had a traditional glass bi-fold door unit that was detached for some reason. I wanted to repair it and couldn’t figure out which hardware was missing. I went here and explained the issue and they were very knowledgeable. They knew exactly what was missing and provided the pieces for free. Turns out it was just a couple metal clamps and they happened to have them in stock.

We purchased our Mendota insert from another store in the Rochester area. Recently we had an issue with our fireplace and contacted Charlie at Cricket on the Hearth for service. He was extremely helpful in troubleshooting the unit over the phone and stepped us through exactly how to remedy the problem (even though he didn't sell us the unit originally). I cannot express enough in a review how helpful he was and would absolutely do business with them in the future. My next fireplace insert will for sure be coming from Cricket on the Hearth, they have earned a new customer. Thank you again Charlie

A gas insert is such a wonderful addition to our home. I can't say enough about the ease of operation and safety and beauty of the unit. It's so wonderful on cold nights to push a button on the remote and have a beautiful fire immediately. Then...at bed time....push a button and know that the fire is safely out right away.
Getting the insert from Cricket on the Hearth was the best decision that we made. We compared prices and found Cricket on the Hearth to be more affordable and much more responsive to our calls and inquiries than other local competitors.
