Wood slats offer "natural beauty". However, the beauty may be short lived if not maintained regularly. Composite slats have the look and feel of real wood, however they don't require any painting, staining or oiling. To keep the natural look, we have always recommended keeping it simple with linseed oil thinned out with a little bit of paint thinner (The color of your slats will darken slightly).
I had a side gate that needed to be replaced and also needed a child safety lock installed on my pool gate. Shawn was very professional, on time and he does quality work. I got three quotes for the job, his was in the middle, but he was by far the most responsive. It was a small job, but I appreciate good service, people who meet deadlines and keep commitments.

The installer, Troy, just left after installing four new gates. He was excellent. We are very happy with both the quality of the gates and the very capable and professional installation. When Shawn provided a quote for the gates, he was very helpful, and made the design decisions easy, but also quoted an approx. 6-week manufacturing schedule. We were pleasantly surprised to hear the gates were ready for installation well ahead of schedule. We got them powder-coated to match the trim on our home and they look great. We approached Sunset gate for a quote to replace our alley gate. They responded within 2 business days, and scheduled a time for an in person quote. Kyle arrived promptly for the scheduled time, and took notes over the course of about 40 minutes understanding what exactly we wanted, what Sunset could provide, and answer any questions. An initial estimate was given on the spot, and official bid for the job via quote within 24 hours.
We did get a secondary quote from another company, and the difference was substantial.

I'll keep it simple here. Absolutely beautiful gate, they hand make their own handles (so i've been told) so it was easy to make the handles match the front door.
As far as price. eh, it's not cheap, but it came in less than i was expecting and i also had them doing more work by moving my existing gate to the other side of the house.
Workers. Wonderful people, explaining everything to me, showing me how to adjust the auto close springs.
Now the down side. I had to call to find out about delays instead of them notifying me

Residential Gate Replacement: From start to finish Sunset Gates provided excellent service. Each of the staff we interacted with on the phone and at our home was calm, competent, professional, knowledgeable, and a good listener. They answered all of our questions and offered thorough explanation of the process, time frame, materials and features of the gate. When on site they wore masks and observed social distancing protocols. Pricing was competitive and work was completed without interruption. Our new gate is beautiful! These guys did an AMAZING job in spite of COVID and peak season. Worked with Dawn to schedule and Shawn came out a couple weeks later (they are super busy but worth the wait) and quoted an extremely fair price. The wait time was 5 weeks for construction and they hit the time within a couple of days. Installers were in an out in a morning and the gate looks fantastic! Amazing service and amazing company!

I hired Sunset Gates to replace the previous homeowners poorly done DIY gate install. Shawn, the owner, came out to quote my project. He worked with me on how to make my ideas work in the space I have in order to provide a professional quality replacement.
When the crew delivered and installed the new gate, there was a small issue with the fabrication. I called Shawn and he had me rescheduled within a week. Today the crew got the gate panels removed, fixed, and reinstalled within business hours, with no evidence of the problem.

Happy with our end product! Getting a quote was super easy! They came out, measured and gave us a quote on a gate we found online. Installation was done during the pandemic and they were professional and practiced social distancing. The price for the product was a lot lower than other competitors. Our gate is simple but it locks and keeps solicitors away. We love our gate and would/have recommend them in the future.

Well, it happened, I fell in love with a gate. (UPDATE my neighbor loves it too)
Scheduling an estimate and install was very easy and they should up when they said they would. The installer even showed up early which we didn’t mind so much.
The gate looks great, makes a HUGE difference when looking out in the backyard, it opens and closes easily, it’s sturdy and the wood composite means minimal maintenance.
I would recommend them over and over again to anyone I know.

I recently had Sunset out to replace my 15 year old sun battered side gate. I cannot remember the last time I have been so satisfied with a home improvement project. The gate is beautiful. The quality and installation were both top notch. My only regret is not having done the upgrade sooner. I've gone out and opened and closed the gate probably 70 times to enjoy the silent and smooth operation. Worth every penny.

From the first conversation I had with their sales people to the end of the installation process, Sunset Gates has been an absolute delight to work with. There may be cheaper alternatives for gates that exist, but you'll not find a better quality product nor will you have a better overall brand experience than with Sunset Gates. In the meantime we already had a bid from Sunset Gates! The third company never responded! All of our questions were answered by Dawn who works in their office. The decision to hire them was easy! We paid our deposit and started production. When the gates were ready we were promptly contacted by Shawn and he set up dates for masonry and gate installation.

We have two gates that were 30 years old and looked it: front side yard and one to the alley in back. The gate in back had sagged and no longer opened without a major battle (sometimes not at all).
