Atlas Home Energy Solutions was founded in 2009 by Frederick Maryland natives Matt Sera and Mike Uecker. After graduating college, Matt was working for his father's construction company providing plumbing, HVAC, and remodeling services when they started to receive consistent requests by homeowners who wanted to make their homes more efficient.
These homeowners wanted to make the most cost effective improvements as possible by doing upgrades that yielded the most energy savings for the lowest investment cost. Seeing this interest from customers, Matt began thinking about ways to identify all of the energy improvements that could be done to a house and how to determine which would make the biggest impact with the least cost.
At the same time, Mike was working with a commercial construction company and began to realize the same interest in energy efficiency by clients. Being friends from high school, Mike and Matt got together to found Atlas Home Energy Solutions.

To help homeowners create high performance homes that are comfortable, energy efficient, healthy, and low maintenance. Experts - Atlas is committed to helping homeowners make their homes perform better for their needs. This means creating a home that is comfortable, low on utility costs, healthy, and low on maintenance costs.
An Atlas Energy Auditor will evaluate your home for improvements that can make it more comfortable and more energy efficient. The quick home energy check is paid for through the EmPower Maryland Act and is no cost at the time of the appointment. Our auditor will review all of the rebate programs currently available through Potomac Edison for making your home more efficient.
During the Home Energy Audit, Our auditor will inspect your home for the efficiency of furnaces, air conditioners, and lights and appliances. In addition, they will inspect all crawlspaces and attics for air leaks, low insulation levels, and health and safety issues that can lead to rot, mold, or high maintenance costs.
A Blower Door is used to simulate a windy day to determine how leaky your home is, where the major leaks are, and to determine if we can make it tighter without making it too tight. An Infrared Camera is used to determine where insulation may be missing in walls, attics or crawlspaces and to see where cold or warm air is leaking into your house.

Used Atlas for a home energy review and updates, including rebates for heating/cooling changes to my home. This winter I have dropped the thermostat at least three degrees, and I see this reduction in my monthly heating costs. It is a milder winter, however, my sunroom glass has always impacted the thermostat - and that is less of a worry this year. I had a similar experience with temperature control in the hot summer months.

I was impressed by the knowledge of the representative (Nolan Walker), who came to our home and conducted a Home Energy Audit in participation of Maryland's Home Performance with Energy Star program. Nolan was not only knowledgeable, but he thoroughly explained the process as well as next steps. He also did an excellent job of explaining our home's current weaknesses and strengths as regards insulation.

Used Atlas home energy for home energy audit and energy improvements. They aerosealed my ducts, sealed up holes in the attic and added insulation. Massively improved the energy efficiency of the old house I recently purchased. Atlas is a fantastic company. I reached out to several companies for a quote on attic insulation. They were the only company to recommend a home energy audit so I could get a BGE rebate on the work I was going to have done anyway. The workers were prompt and took the time to explain everything. We’ll definitely use them in the future and I’ve recommended hem to all my family in the area!

I had this team do a foam & fiberglass job at my house and was very pleased. Then I called them back to do a second job at my mother's house and the workmanship left a little to be desired (they forgot to cover the replace grates, some vents were removed causing more damage than would happen with a skilled tradesperson, and they didn't clear up debris left debris on the floor in an empty freshly painted and cleaned room as shown in my photos — they credited me $150 for this so it wasn't the end of the world).

We were looking to see how we could seal our old home a bit better against losing heat in the winter and cool in the summer. Atlas did a very thorough job of walking through the house, inspecting every entry/exit point for air, completing a door blower test, and then carefully explaining our most to least effective options for helping to seal the house. With rebates from our local electricity provider, we were able to spend just $100 for the consultation and have a very good jumping off point for how to better air seal going forward (and we may well use Atlas in that process!).
