Whether it's remodeling a room, building an addition, a simple home repair, or even a complex whole-house renovation, Merrick Design and Build. The Design Agreement outlines three key things. Your remodel goals, a budget range, and the design work needed to get you to construction. The Design Agreement is a fixed fee and does not obligate you to a Construction Contract.
Initial designs are created to explore your goals. Together we review the designs using our 3D software, editing them as needed to create the design that meets your family's needs. Depending on the complexity of your project this step may take several meetings. We bring in our trusted traded partners to evaluate your home and identify any potential challenges or assets in advance during this step.
For example, your home may require an electrical heavy-up that we need to plan for. Projects are feasible when they solve all your home's problems, can be built within your budget, and excite your imagination. Once design is complete, we will meet with you to review your contract plans and scope of work in detail.

At Merrick Design and Build, we carefully plan projects with all of our customers in lower Montgomery County and NW Washington, DC. From our usual type of projects to completely unique jobs, all of our expert designers and craftsmen have the answers and will work with you on your project down to the finest detail to make it precisely what you want.
We create long-term relationships with our clients. Early on our design-build customers kept coming back to us with odds and ends, fix a window lock here, help solve this mystery leak over here, etc. So we created a new Home Repair department with one of our best carpenters. Our goal is always to provide the best value possible.

We designed but did not build with Merrick. Long story but costs did not work out for us and we abandoned the project.
However the $3K design experience, working with David who is an architect and his design team was fabulous. They incorporated all our "wish list" items into the architectural designs, they came up with 2 or 3 options at each iteration gave us print-outs and access to chiefarchitect 3D renderings at no extra cost. When we sat-down Dave and his daughter would walk us through the dollhouse views and listen patiently to our comments and concerns. They were very understanding

David Merrick and his team are master craftsmen! From vision to completion, every step of the process is done with an attention to making sure the final product is perfect. And yes, there are going to be hiccups along the way - what renovation doesn't have them? But having a partner who knows how to address them - completely and honestly - is what make's Merrick a true 5-star remodeler.

I can't say enough how pleased I have been with the quality and the service from Wayne and his team at Merrick. They restored a balcony railing and floor for us last year, and we had them return to install new shutters recently. They have been timely, courteous, efficient, and neat. The patio looked cleaner after the project than before they arrived! We will certainly be calling on them again for other projects!

Shameful conman!!! Two complaints with BBB. Only 1 by my the other by another customer. My complaint was NOT dismissed and I did not decline arbitration. His con that any complaint will be arbitrated is not true because the BBB just doesn't arbitrate, they leave it up to his integrity to repair damages which he does not do. Go to BBB.org to read. Charged 2500 dollars to produce Design Agreement which he did not deliver. Instead he gave draft for construction on completely different work that was not of interest to me nor part of the the design paid for. He refused to produce the paid

I worked with Merrick on a master bath design. The goal was to expand the master bath and add a closet. They are a busy office and I felt we got lost in the shuffle. I worked with Peggy. Over 3 months, we met 4 times with Merrick and exchanged many emails. Our final meeting ended with an estimate that was 2X our agreed to budget. I have many design renderings. But I would have liked more attention to the budget.

I can't say enough about Merrick Design and Build. We interviewed three companies to renovate our kitchen. David Merrick was our first appointment. We knew at the beginning we wanted his company to do the work even after we interview reps and owner from the other two companies.
The work on the kitchen started on April 18, 2013 and was anticipated to be completed by June 7, 2013. Today is May 10. Work is almost completed. At the beginning of the project, a half wall separating my kitchen table from the kitchen had to be removed

While Merrick hasn't yet begun the work (it should commence in June of 2013) we wanted to write a review of the design process that we began a year ago with Lindsay.
Lindsay is, with all sincerity, the sweetest, most honest, and most professional person we've ever encountered in the home improvement realm. We cannot imagine working with anyone else. In fact, my wife and I were so compelled to work with her we decided it would be a waste of time to get additional bids.
