Daren Smith founded Smiley Renovations in 1997 after many years of experience in the renovation and construction business. The company is named for an uncle of Daren's. Daren works very closely with each client identifying challenges and designing solutions to meet their specific needs. Everyone at Smiley Renovations works hard to keep you informed during the entire process.
We are all about showing up on time, finishing the job in a timely manner and instilling value for the client. In the end, we like to create great spaces that people enjoy for years to come! Steve has over 20 years of experience in real estate/construction where he worked in sales, managing renovation projects, and building custom homes.
Josh joined the Smiley team in 2001. Having been in the business since high school he brings experience and expertise in the trade to Smiley. Josh has been intimately involved in all CotY Awards, Professional Remodeler Design Awards and Chrysalis Awards won by Smiley. His specialty is in Masonry.

Daren Smith and Smiley Renovations did an exceptional job converting our two car garage into a beautiful in-law suite with kitchen, full bath and bedroom area. Daren was extremely responsive to our every question and concern, and bent over backwards to accommodate us. The plans he drew up far surpassed our expectations regarding use of space and privacy in the new living area.

We used Smiley to put on a massive second story porch on our house. I would highly recommend them. They are professional, do great work, and work hard every day to get the job done on time. We now have had our porch for four years, and I’ve never had to call them back for anything.

Phenomenally great! My move and renovations to an old apartment in NW-DC were complicated in terms of budget and timing so the job required a lot of flexibility. I thought the process would be quite protracted and difficult for those reasons. But Daren Smith and his team figured it all out -- the timing and the cost -- in such a way that I never felt pressured either way. It was quite remarkable, and it was QUICK! Now I have moved in and I adore my place. It's absolutely beautiful in every detail.
