Reed Wright heaiting company started on Queen Anne hill in 1938 delivering coal and sawdust for heating homes around Seattle. Reed Wright and his brother operated the company to start with. The company transitioned from coal and sawdust to oil then to gas heat in the 50s. The company also started an electrical division back in the late 50s or early 60s.

As electrical contractors the company also did some of the Seattle center wiring for the worlds fair. The company slowly backed off of electrical and focused on heating and air conditioning. Today the company installs and services boilers (hot water and steam heat) and forced air heating and cooling systems.

We work on all sizes and types of houses to some of the largest homes in Seattle. A large part of our work is also on apartment and commercial buildings in Seattle. A specialty of ours is pre 1940s buildings and homes although we work on all ages and types of structures. Tim Smith and Bryan Wilson took over the company in 1986 after working for Mr Wright for several years.

I would give 6 stars if I could. I was told by another company that I would need a new boiler, and they suggested a tankless one to do both my space heating and my water (turns out, that is not recommended given our water needs). Bryan took time out of his busy day to explain to me the cons and told me that my problem might not even be my boiler, and he ended up being right. Trevor and Eric did a fantastic job replacing my tank, and left the spot better than what it was before. I think they represent honest, quality work and I wouldn't call anyone else. I called Reed Wright based on the glowing reviews here on Yelp. The first time I called the very unfriendly woman first asked if I was a returning customer. When I said no, she asked my location (2.9 miles from their location). She then told me it would be at least 3 days and paused clearly waiting for me to say I would look elsewhere. When I said I'd be happy to wait, she paused and told me it would be at least a week. It was clear she wasn't interested in my business. Two months later, I called again. Same woman. Same game except this time after I told her I'd be willing

If you have furnace issues, most HVAC guys see a new furnace sales opportunity ($$$).
Reed Wright sees an opportunity to do a same day install of that one blower motor on the back shelf in their warehouse (just the one you need, of course).

I've been working with Reed Wright for a couple years now for my business, and they are great! My most recent experience with them was exceptionally great... We moved store locations almost two years ago and had our contractor add an A/C and heating unit (he didn't use Reed Wright) when we did our build-out since the previous business only had one unit (both units are located on the roof). We made a mental note to get it checked yearly, but time has a way of flying by, and we just recently realized we not only hadn't done a maintenance check, but also hadn't changed our filters

Amazing!! My rental property lost heat, I thought it was the igniter in my furnace, but was not sure. My engineer husband poked around, but couldn't figure out exactly what was wrong. We called Reed Wright and they were able to come out that afternoon. Within 20 minutes Dave was able to figure out and fix the problem, which was the igniter. No parts needed, he was able to fix it with the tools he brought so my renters were back in heat that day!! Very happy with the service and over all experience.

They did an awesome job fixing up a malfunctioning furnace. They drove out after a full night of snow and worked diligently the entire time they were here. Very upfront with likely how much it will cost which was so refreshing, as there weren't a bunch of hidden costs. Also, when I had a water heater issue, they talked me through what the issue might be and helped me fix it for free before trying to send someone out here. Only using Reed Wright from here on out!

I have used them twice at two different houses in Queen Anne to service or repair furnaces and each time they were a royal pain in the #@$@! to deal with. Read the low reviews. Those are the ones that will tell you what it's really like to deal with them. I am amazed RW is still in business considering what an unpleasant experience it is to deal with them.

I've had the misfortune of talking to Elaine at Reed Wright 4 times in the last year. All 4 times she has been rude and clearly didn't want to service our needs.

Last year we had Reed Wright out to service our Radiant Heat system, 2 weeks (2nd call w/Elaine) later our heat stopped working again. I was told by Elaine if it was the same issue it would be covered by the "Warranty", they did the same/identical service (bled air from the water lines) and our heat started back up again. 2 weeks later we received a bill for $300+ for the 2nd/Warranty service. I'm very happy with my service. This seems a company that's large enough to get to your repair quickly, but not so big that the quality suffers. We discovered that our furnace was on the blink on the first chilly day - along with many people! Reed Wright was able to schedule us within a few days despite the rush of calls. Repair guys showed up on time, and were friendly, efficient, and fast. The whole thing was expensive, but less than I was expecting, so I can warm my toes by the heater vent and be glad.

I spent two and a half hours on the phone the other morning after my on-demand hot water heater crapped out. The guy who installed it wouldn't work on it, and neither would 7 other plumbing companies the manufacturer recommended. One place told me they could have someone out in 11 days, after two and a half hours that was my best option until I called the last place on my list. They said they couldn't help me, but they told me to call Reed Wright. I'm really glad that I did.

We have lived on Queen Anne for over 20 years and had heard nothing but great things about Reed Wright. However - when we called them to help replace our broken water heater, we got an outragous price quote. When we asked if we could purchase our own water heater and have them install it for us, they flat out refused the job and refered us to another company.
Thier general attitude was really unbelievable. Completely unaccomodating and less than helpful. We will NEVER call them again!

When the snow is crazy, your apartment management company is swamped and understaffed, and you're freezing your buns off, have the manager call Reed Wright. Our technician came and all but dismantled our heating unit, cleaned it, and reassembled it with some new pieces. I have no idea what he did, so I'll call it magic.

Thanks to the magic of Reed Wright, we have working gas heat! No more re-lighting the pilot light for this merry home! The guy was even friendly! And magicker than David Blaine!
