Ben started his solar career in 2006 working inside sales with SolarCity in San Mateo. In 2008 was promoted to outside sales and moved to Arizona to help launch SolarCity's new office in Phoenix. 2 years later was re-located to San Diego. In 2011 he returned to where it all started working back in the San Mateo office.
Ben's career then expanded into the Solar Financing industry with Clean Power Finance. Over the next 2 years he worked with local installers teaching them solar financing and sales. Ben saw a need to create a energy company that would allow the client to have choices and provide a total energy solution rather than one solution.

I just wanted to say that I absolutely love my solar. The whole process was excellent with Avatar, from beginning to end. In the last 10 days (days since PGE did the final approval), we have received $12 in energy credit from PGE instead of a bill.
If you are thinking about it, do not wait, regardless of the company you choose. The federal tax rebate has no cap, and is going away as follows:
30% for systems placed in service by 12/31/2019
26% for systems placed in service after 12/31/2019 and before 01/01/2021
22% for systems placed in service after 12/31/2020 and before 01/01/2022.

I've been on the fence about solar for a while; I finally decided to take the plunge in the new year. I came across this company while doing my research and am thoroughly satisfied with their work and professionalism. I really like the fact that this is a small business and Ben the owner pretty much lives in my community in Oakland. When we decided to go Solar I called all the usual suspects, Sun Run, Solar City, etc., and was totally dissatisfied with the impersonal and unimpressive response. Luckily I found Ben at Avatar. He came out got up on the roof and laid out all the options, but in terms of designing and paying for a system. We also decided to go for a battery backup, which again was very well explained. Our house proved to have some challenges because of the way it is designed and because of an older electrical panel. Ben handled everything and just solved every problem that arose. I just got solar with Avatar Energy Solutions and had a wonderful experience and wanted to share. I looked at about 6 different companies and every company had a different pitch. What sold me on Avatar was how easy the entire process was. Ben the owner came out to my house and did not try to sell me on why they offer the best solar panels or why they have the best finance option. Ben laid all the different options on the table. He explained the differences in solar panels and inverters. Most other companies only gave me 1 solar panel option and 1 or 2 finance options. Ben showed me 4 or 5 different

We moved into our house a year ago and always knew we would end up getting solar as we would have to use the ac in the summer months. After we got a $400 bill we knew it was finally time to get solar. We had pool solar on but It always seemed that the pool was not as warm as it should have been. We are so thankful that we found Ben because he got up on the roof and confirmed it. Our pool solar had been painted over when the past owners were getting ready to sell the house. I talked to quite a few other solar companies and Avatar was able to offer me the best system for the best price. While dealing with Ben I felt very comfortable knowing he had my interest in mind. We had a great experience with Avatar. Ben explained to us everything we needed to know about solar power. He helped us figure out the right system for our needs and didn't try to over sell us. He has been a pleasure to work with before, during, and after installation. The installers were very courteous and professional and did the work quickly, without any mess.
Our Avatar solar system is now up and running and saving us tons of money on our electric bills.

Ben is a great, reliable and trustworthy business owner. He has been in the solar industry for years and has worked from the ground up. It is evident that he is very knowledgeable of not only practices in the bay area but also of what is going on in the industry.
Going through Avatar Energy Solutions has its advantages. They do not have specific contracts to buy from any particular solar or financing companies so they can negotiate to find you the lowest rate. It was nice not having to call all the different solar companies in the area and have to do comparison shopping with multiple sales people
