Update: I bumped Bernie to three stars after speaking with him and receiving a full refund. Bernie did the right thing. More than the money, his actions in admitting that he'd made a mistake showed his strong character and bearing.
My guess is that his mind was on another job that he interrupted to come to my house. We all have moments when the gears in our brains don't mesh.

I found Bernie through a Living Social offer for an AC checkup. As luck would have it, our AC went on the fritz so instead of having Bernie do the checkup I had him diagnose the problem

Whenever I call someone to inspect a home appliance, system, etc., I fully expect a negative and annoying experience. Bernie's Heating and A/C was a breath of fresh air!
Bernie arrived on time and completed a thorough review of my home's HVAC system. He provided me with an accurate assessment of its condition and most importantly, he did not try to oversell me on services I didn't need. In terms of price, the checkup was very affordable as I used a coupon from his website.

I found Bernie thru a friend. He is very reliable -showed up when he said he would; educated me on a very complex heat system that tied radiant floor heating into an older gas boiler radiator system. Most importantly, I did not feel that I was being taken advantage of when he presented me with my options.
