Portland Edible Gardens came back for more... because we wanted them to! They raised up three already existing yard beds for us and made it easier for us (midlifers) to work in the beds; it inspired us to begin year-round gardening. We liked the boost so much that we asked them to build three more beds along our driveway. Ian and the staff are grand from planning to building to supporting.

My new home had horrible clay soil & plus was built on a slope so there was no flat area for a vegetable garden. Portland Edible Gardens solved that problem by terracing & installing two raised beds in my side yard. The soil they used to fill the beds was fantastic and I couldn’t believe how many veggies I could grow in a small space. Ian & crew were knowledgeable, professional & efficient & did the hard work so I was able to focus on the fun part of planting & harvesting with my grandkids.

Ian and his team did such a fantastic job! Since we knew nothing about gardening we relied on his expertise for raised-bed size, location, garden planning and execution. Our children (5, 18 months) love it and it's really opened up eating fresh fruit/vegetables in a whole new way. They love to eat tomatoes and snap peas straight from the garden and it's made healthy eating more accessible to our whole family. We are eagerly awaiting the spring for the next round of home grown goodness. To boot, Ian is really nice and spending time talking about plants & life is a lovely afternoon.

I cannot say enough good things about Ian and Portland Edible Gardens! I had previously tried for years to grow my own produce, with exactly zero success. Finally coming to terms with the fact that I simply did not know what I was doing, I came upon Ian's website and saw that he provided garden planning consultation services and made an appointment. When he came out, we walked the entire yard and he identified where the sunniest and best plot would be to build the raised beds. Turns out we had poor results the year before as our beds were in much more shade than we realized. We relocated the garden

Ian helped us build 2 raised bed gardens with an irrigation system, developed a planting plan, and we met monthly throughout last year. I knew nothing about gardening prior to meeting Ian. Now I feel comfortable growing healthy, organic vegetables on my own backyard. Ian is professional, a wealth of knowledge and experience. He is passionate about gardening and his enthusiasm will rub off on you. I highly recommend anyone interested in gardening to seek his expertise.

My family and I recently moved to SW Portland from the burbs and had an opportunity to design and implement our back garden to our specifications. I have always wanted to have a perennial herb garden and a vegetable garden but had considered myself anything but a green thumb. Ian Wilson was patient, knowledgeable and essentially transformed our family into successful urban gardeners. The program requires that you work along side Ian in a kind of apprenticeship model where the master is teaching the student. Additionally, he made gardening fun and took someone who really hated yard work and turned
