We were tasked with a renovation and remodel of an existing ranch house in Lampasas, TX. (Note: The house was originally designed by Texas architect Franch Welch.) The team did a lot of "visual listening" to elicit solutions that honor and preserve the spirit of the original residence while upgrading finishes and updating and refining the plan geometry and adjacencies to maximize function and beauty.
We sited the house to disappear into the landscape with a detached garage concealed with a sodded green roof and a basketball court. This design elegantly used the challenging topography to minimize massing, maximized privacy, and create a warm and minimalist design. We strive to be fully collaborative, fully transparent and fully approachable.
Our concept to construction process is built on an orderly framework of 12 meetings and deliverables that serve our clients as a point of reference as well as an expectation setter. We hired Jay to do a remodel of our home that included a 2nd story.

In fact, I don't think there was a time when I didn't know this is exactly what I wanted to do. I started down the path to becoming an architect early when my only-child life spurred me to be creative and imaginative. My mother had a designer's eye and fostered that creativity with toys and tools that allowed my thoughts and skills to flourish, and she taught me to see the beauty in even the smallest things.
This 6,500 square foot speculative residence offers stunning views and ample living space both indoor and outdoor. This amenity-rich residence is another speculative venture with VII Custom Homes and is for sale. This 5,400 square foot residence is situated on a corner lot with gentle slopes and distant lake views.
This remodeled vacation home was featured in the summer issue of Custom Builder and was originally designed by The Texas icon, the late Franch Welch. The homeowners asked Jay to update and modernize the property. Our Horseshoe Bay Lake Home has been recognized as one of the Incredible Waterfront Dwellings and Ultra-Cool Boat Houses in the Summer 2021 Edition of Austin Home Magazine.

We've had two excellent opportunities to work with Jay Corder and his team -- one for building our home from the ground up, and another doing an addition. His team is incredibly creative, with out-of-the-box ideas. They are professional, reliable, and fun to work with. Jay has high standards for contractors and their work, and he'll make sure that the final product is exactly as you like it.

I have been working with Jay Corder for 10 years. We retained him to do a major remodel on our home 10 years ago and have used him for 2 subsequent updates. Jay and his team are simply the best. They offer a unique and comprehensive combination of design creativity, construction functionality, incredible service, follow-through and attention to detail. I've never found that combination of skills and product delivery in any other architectural firm. Jay has a wonderful "eye" and our house could not look any better thanks to him. Frankly, I can't recommend Jay highly enough!!

We worked with Jay Corder for over a year, planning, designing and building our custom home. It was a great experience working with him and his staff. Our home is beyond our expectations. It was so helpful to have Jay involved during the building process. He has an eye for detail and knows how to work well with contractors. We highly recommend him.

We hired Jay to do a remodel of our home that included a 2nd story. We live in an older neighborhood with homes built in the early 70s. Jay's design fit very well into the current landscape of homes and the addition of the 2nd story did not look like an addition, but part of the original structure. He also had some great ideas that we incorporated into our original plan. We get so many compliments on our house thanks to Jay and his team.

Jay specializes in catering to the wants and needs of his clients to transform their homes into something truly special. He does a good job of listening but also isn't afraid to push back on ideas that aren't practical. Our house was built in the 70's and he did a wonderful job of transforming it into a modern home while still preserving the original bones of the structure. While you might pay a premium for his work, the old adage "you get what you pay for" certainly applies.
