Hapa Landscaping

We contracted Hapa Landscaping to put down turf in our back yard. They did a really thorough job, and it turned out very well. They were great about removing the rock that was there (even redistributing it around the yard into areas where it was needed) and the crew were friendly, professional and respectful of our property. We recently had our lawn redone and can't say enough about Hapa Landscaping! We live in Manoa and were having drainage problems with parts of our lawn being underwater after rains. Our project was started just before the recent huge rainy streak that caused havoc around the islands.

One of the Hapa Landscaping owners, Brant, came and "listened" to what we wanted done. He brainstormed ideas with us and included a French drain under the lawn to take care of the water. From the landscape designers to the management team who followed up and followed through on everything, to the team that actually came out and did the work, they are first rate. Received a quote that was three times the average quote of similar companies. The guy that came out was not local, pretty much just taking advantage of local people. No Kokua or Aloha.

I have been going back and forth on this update for a while. Santi and Brant are concerned about their reputation, rightfully so.

TL;DR: Hapa had the right solution to the flooding problem.

As I stated in my previous review Hapa did a lot of work to add grass and a patio slab to my backyard. An unintended consequence of this work is it raised the yard a little bit and a slope in the yard leading down to the back of my house was not identified or addressed, possibly exacerbated. Hapa Landscaping was absolutely wonderful to work with. Communication is very high on my list. All questions were answered very promptly.
The crew showed up on time and worked quietly so as not to disturb our neighbors. This was amazing because they had demolished a CMU wall as well as part of a stone wall that was tipping badly.
The crew were very polite and soft spoken so it was very easy to talk to them regarding why my wall was falling apart.
Most importantly, the crew cleaned up after themselves so that there the yard was ready for replanting. I really appreciated that being my age makes

Hapa did a total re-landscaping of our home including the sprinkler and lighting. Excellent job, very professional, locally owned, high quality experience. Not the cheapest, but totally worth it.

We called to see if regular yard service was available and were told it is not, but the friendly woman on the phone said she recommended a one-time cleanup. Brant called the day of and said he needed to move up the appointment time so would just come earlier and then send us an estimate. He said "I am on my way" and never showed up. Hapa never contacted us again about it.

If you need help installing or repairing a lawn sprinkler control box or adjusting sprinkler heads call this company!! You will be happy that you did.

After spending almost $600 with 2 other companies and they didn't really know what they were doing.

There was an issue with some of the groundcover plants not thriving and I communicated this to their Ops person Makenna. Since they were so busy, it took some time for them to schedule me in. When Ace showed up he brought additional plants to shore up the bare areas and replace the dead plants. He worked so effortlessly and was able to give me some pointers on how to take care both my ground cover and the newly sodded lawn. The slope where the cover is looks much better and my hope for a perfect outcome has been shored up. Thumbs up to Hapa Landscaping.

I reached out for a quote for servicing our front yard sprinkler system which has suddenly stopped working. The customer service rep let me know that the earliest available appointment was three weeks out and would call me if something earlier became available.
Day of the appointment: I get an email, not a call, saying the technician will not be able to show for the appointment and that I will be notified as soon as possible of when I would be rescheduled.

We needed our landscaping replaced due to neglect. I called Hapa. I felt they were very professional with just the first call. I requested the landscaping be completed by a certain time (in a month) and there was no delays or excuses for not having to meet this time. Professional - objectively assessed our sprinkler situation and resolved the problem quickly and correctly. Head of their sprinkler/field division Adrien was very patient explaining our system and how it works, both in the field and as a follow up over the phone. Professional but personable local company; we were very pleased with our whole experience with them. Emails were always answered and ended with them asking if we had any more questions.
Kory and Peter worked hard on our job for two days and cleaned up debris that fell outside our yard as well as inside. They were quiet and efficient, and Kory checked in periodically to make sure we were satisfied with how the job was going.

We had synthetic turf installed in our backyard by Hapa Landscaping. They did a great job, quality work. We had a slight issue with grading upon completion which was dealt with professionally and in a timely manner as they addressed and solved the issue. These are the kind of people you want to do business with. Highly Recommend!

We had a patio extension done by Hapa landscaping and the result looks great. We are very happy with the work that was done and have been enjoying our new space. Although this company has stellar 5 star reviews we could only give a 4 star rating because the communication for our project fell through. Had communication been better we definitely would give 5 stars for the work done. The before and after pictures look amazing. Thank you Hapa Landscaping for your hard work.

Had my front yard redone in artificial turf and a putting green installed in my backyard. Turned out just as I had imagined. Jimar and his crew did a great job and I am very happy with the results. We got delayed a few days because of bad weather but they worked really hard to finish the job as quickly as they could. My yard is now the best-looking yard in the neighborhood!

I hired Hapa landscaping last year to trim my huge eucalyptus limbs hanging over my roof! Hapa L was the only company who was willing to do this very dangerous job! As you are all aware, eucalyptus trees branches are very heavy, heavy wind an rain will uproot the trees easily! He was the last company out of five that came for a quote. The owner Victor showed up on time and his enthusiasm about taking up the challenge gave me confidence that this company was going to do a great job! We sealed the deal on that day! I had a 4 star review but now it is not as the trees they trimmed had horrible problems afterwards and I never fixed my review. Die back on the plumeria and avocado trees and mold disease on the mountain apple. I had another arborist check it and he stated that it was "Trimmed too severely and it put the trees in shock."

So I'll never hire this company again, no matter what.

These guys did an amazing job bringing our front yard back to life after a pool installation. They built a beautiful horizontal stained fence, installed Synlawn around the pool, added pavers, gravel and plants -- made everything look great. They also rolled with a LOT of changes and tweaks along the way. Great work!
