Services
For Garden's Sake has been North Carolina's source for locally grown plants and expert knowledge since 1999. FGS was originally started by Chapel Hill resident JoAnn Davis. It is now owned and operated by Scott and Marsha Pearce who have managed the day to day operations since 2010. FGS is situated on a beautiful 20-acre site right on the Durham/ Chatham county line.
Julia is from Pembroke, NC, but now lives in Durham, NC. Her professional background began in agriculture where she focused on the aggregation of local NC food. She is incredibly passionate about supporting local farms, so she is a perfect fit for sourcing locally grown plants here in NC at our Garden Center.
In our warranty, FGS defines a woody plant that is either a shrub or tree having multiple permanent stems branching from or near the ground and/or trunk. Woody plants may be deciduous, meaning they shed their leaves for a season, or an evergreen, meaning they keep their leaves and/or canopy throughout all four seasons.
Remember that plants are living and require special care. Once we install your landscape or you take a plant home from our garden center, you have the responsibility for the continued health and vigor of the plantings. The following general instructions will help you enjoy and maintain your investment.
1. If you plan to use PTO during that time, please submit a Time-Off Request form to your manager. If you are unsure about how much PTO you have, check with one of your managers or email Amanda. Please remember all Garden Center, Lawn and Landscape staff members should only order items in Royal Blue (or as close to Royal Blue as possible).

Our yard is a small yard and the previous landscaping was not exactly what we wanted. We contacted "For Garden's Sake" and right from the start to the end of our project, they were welcoming, easy and honest to work with. And we are very pleased with our landscaping. It looks fantastic and have zero complaints. Thank you and job well done "For Garden's Sake".

The Robin's Nest is a beautiful, little event space that was perfect size for my niece's bridal shower. It was reasonably priced as well.
I would rent this space again based on location and decor. The space was wonderful and looks exactly as shown in photos. Be mindful that the few stairs shown in one picture are to offices for the business, not to the kitchen. The prep kitchen and bathroom are at the top of a steep staircase that leads above the rental space, so be prepared if needing to use either. There is a large table up there that we used to prep our trays for the event, as well as a microwave

Phase 3 of our landscape design was just completed by For Garden's Sake. The designs by Doug Barnes are beautiful and exactly what we had hoped. Jack Meyers, landscape operations manager, worked closely with the crew to ensure the plan was executed and even picked up a shovel to help out! Because of supply issues, there were substitutions made on the size of several plants. Doug took the time to talk us through this so we understood how this would impact the overall design. Friends bring friends over to see our gardens and yard. This is our utopia.

It was beautiful! I visited with my family and walked around their grounds. The pond was lovely and had ducks! It also had some turtles that poked their heads through the water. There were some goats that were kinda shy till they walked up, and then they were very nice. The garden has all sorts of pretty plants, not much of a plant guy but they were in all sorts of types and lighting requirements. Very nice potting selection too, all sizes and very well decorated. I'm gonna come back for sure

The best place to buy plants locally, in my opinion. The setup is beautiful and a great place to walk around and browse. The folks who work there are incredibly helpful. They have a wonderful selection of high quality plants. I've bought plants at chain stores and they don't compare to the quality of plants at For Garden's Sake. Highly recommend.

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Visit the Potting Shed for drinks while (or before, or after) you shop. House plants are available inside and they rotate new inventory constantly. Only slightly more expensive than big box stores and the plants are WAY healthier. I visit at least once a week, usually for either new pots or new plants and then I end up leaving with both. All plants pictured below are from FGS!

We recently remodeled our backyard with For Garden's Sake and we're very happy with the results! The team is awesome and very responsive and was what we were looking for. From Billy's design chops to AmberLeigh and Viridian coordinating the whole thing and Jack keeping us up-to-date on the job site, we found the whole experience to be pleasant and straightforward. They even got us in touch with a deck builder and worked with us to adjust our overall design plan to fit our budget. As you can see, we opted out of the plants for now, but that just goes to show you how versatile they are!

There is soooo much to love about this little gem. From the goats to the wide variety of plants to the sweet little Potting Shed, For Garden's Sake has everything you need for a perfect Sunday.
I picked up a good sized snake plant and two other really unique looking plants, all indoor and easy to take care of. I also got two pretty pots for my new additions - they have a huge selection! I can't wait to return soon!

I love the selection of plants and plant pottery. The location is what's most attractive. It's in the outskirts, has a pond, a cutesy adult drink spot, alcoholic and nonalcoholic slushees, food truck, chickens, goats, ducks, and I think roosters. It's not only a garden shop, it's a Sunday afternoon hangout spot! The staff so far are super friendly and helpful.

FGS is a garden oasis with all kinds of plants and shrubbery , plenty of knowledgeable staff on site to help and food trucks and areas for the entire family that make this more of an experience vs a plant shop. Parking was easy on a Sunday afternoon and we got a beautiful hibiscus plant and azaleas. I heard about this location from a local blogger and started following them on Instagram . If you sign up for the newsletter you also get lots of helpful info. The prices are a little on the higher side yet you are supporting local. It was a beautiful day and venue to walk around and check out all the

They've doubled their houseplant selection which is really cool. They had some rarer plants and now that renovations are complete there's WAY more space and plants which is cool. Also the outdoor plants and trees etc have a wide variety, theres QR codes which offer info on different plants and the staff are super helpful and excellent (although sometimes they ask me if I need help when I'm just trying to browse). Would be nice if there were even more native plants but there's a good selection and they seem to be adding more. 10/10 will be back again to take classes (theyre

First time visit and I was impressed. Decent selection of houseplants at average prices and great selection of pots. I did visit in the middle of the winter, so the stock may have been low, I'm eager to go back in the spring or summer. Everything seemed to be very healthy. The goats and chickens were a pleasant surprise!! So friendly

A magical wonderland for all the plant lovers out there.
This place is massive! Plants everywhere, pots everywhere, everything you'd ever need!
The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable of the plants available. I probably spent an hour here and it was so worth it. When you think of a plant shop, this is the place you think of. Plants hanging from the ceilings, climbing up the wall, everywhere you look something new catches your eye.
I will definitely be returning and I'll be bringing some plant lovers with me!

This place is awesome! We have bought plants from them in the past and their staff were always very knowledgeable and helpful!
Most recently we have visited a few times to let our toddler play on the playground, watch the ducks, and feed the goats! It's usually pretty quiet and other families keep their distance during covid times.
If you ask the staff they will give you some animal crackers to feed the goats!
There's also an old cemetery on the grounds. It was really flooded on our recent visit, so I didn't walk in, but looking forward to exploring next time.

This is a really cool place. We just moved to hwy 751 in May and wanted some plants for our new place and found we were about a mile from this nursery.
It is so unique! Not only do they have plants, pots, soil, and all the necessities, but it's a whole experience - they have live animals that we saw the kids petting in the distance, a booth where you can buy drinks and iced treats on a hot day, plenty of space to walk around, and a lake where you can picnic. Since there's a pandemic, we kept our distance (and there's plenty of space to do so) and didn't try any of those things

A fun place to shop, but their recent changes are a step back not forward.
For Garden's Sake is the place where most people go to get a dose of fall injected into their veins by going to buy pumpkins, take some photos on a vintage pickup truck that's decked out in fall decor (pumpkins, hay, etc... you know the vibe). This place has become a somewhat notable instagrammable location in the triangle area thanks to the store's aggressive social media team. Last year my wife and I went with our little dog to buy some pumpkins and took some photos. It was a nice way to spend a quiet sunday

I have passed by so many times and never knew this place existed. I saw an awesome review on Instagram and decided to check this place out.
As we pulled in we noticed the goats and chickens on the left side. I had no idea how big this space is!
Covid restrictions are in place, felt completely safe.

Wow! This place is a gem! I can't believe I hadn't visited here before! They have a wonderful selection of outdoor flowers, tress, shrubs, and all sorts of plants. They definitely have a unique variety and section it off in a super helpful way. They had a shaded garden which was awesome and gave us a ton of ideas of stuff to buy for our yard. The prices were reasonable and comparable to other plant shops in the area. I know they also have a unique selection of houseplants, but we didn't check those out this visit.
It's the end of September so they have a really awesome display

This place is a plant-lovers dream come true!
Like many now stuck in their house thanks to COVID, I began adopting some greenery throughout the last few months to brighten up my space. As I made the move to Chapel Hill mid-pandemic, a friend suggested I reward myself with some new lush bbs for my new place.
When I pulled up here, I felt like I was in plant paradise. The layout is amazing! If you have kids, they'll love the goats and chickens happily prancing about. I walked in and was immediately helped by the warm, friendly staff.
My haul ended up being a beautiful, rare Sansevieria Black

Nice layout in this garden center. Ample supply of plants and most popular things that grows in your yard. Cool animal area goats , etc , for the kids to see. Not many unusual plants here, mostly more popular ones that everyone has.
They have a great selection of pots also. Indoor plants inside the building, they look very healthy and vibrant.
