We specialize in personalized Landscape Design, Installation & even continuous Garden Care! Long time Gainesville resident Jon George lived in Europe and Asia for several years before returing home to start Cottage Gardens Inc. in 1995. Studying and living near the gardens of artist Claude Monet in Giverny, France, Jon gained inspiration from Monet's expert combinations of light and color in structural beds he called "paint box beds".
Living in Japan and Hong Kong heighted Jon's appreciation for simplicity and the use of negative space in design. He found that gardening in Eastern Asia was similar to conditions back in Florida. Both places shared blistering heat and humidity as well as a tropical rainy season that sent most Northern plants packing.
Thus Jon returned to Gainesville with a mission to find plants that worked in our subtropical, yet slightly northern climate. To this day, he and his staff trial dozens of plants annually to find sturdy varieties that provide unusual color or interest for their landscapes in Alachua County.

Services
We specialize in personalized Landscape Design, Installation & even continuous Garden Care! During the design consultation, our staff will personally come to your yard to "walk through" the process of planning and designing a garden with you. Why? Because the design must harmonize with your personal tastes, architectural setting, and growing conditions.
True gardeners know that now is the best time to establish trees, shrubs and perennials without the fear of transplant shock and water stress. North Florida is blessed with a relatively mild winter and early spring climate compared to most parts of the country. For too long we have been schooled in a northern climate mentality that says "best wait for warm weather".
Check out each issue to learn secrets of how he and his staff create colorful landscapes any month of the year. You may contact his staff for questions at cottagegardensinc@yahoo.com. Jon George is the owner of Cottage Gardens, Inc., a Gainesvillebased landscape design and installation firm. Jon has been gardening in North Central Florida for more than 30 years.

These are the correct directions to the Cottage Gardens Inc. office located at 14930 SW 8th Avenue, Newberry, FL 32669.
At the intersection of Newberry Rd and 143rd Street turn onto 143rd Street heading South. Go approx. 1 mile turn right onto SW 8th Avenue, it's a dirt road so drive carefully. Please continue on this road for approx. 1/2 mile, turn right at the end of the horse corral, continue for about 2 blocks and you will see a big white horse barn with blue trim, that is the office.

I have used Cottage Gardens twice now to do the landscaping at my home. First was several years ago and just this month. They are fantastic people to work with and Jon the designer is great at listening to what you want and making it happen. They did the Garden in the back of my home where my family likes to sit on our patio and watch all the birds (especially hummingbirds) and enjoy the beautiful garden. They had to redo my gardens as my wife became very ill and the gardens were neglected. Now the second time around they are even more beautiful than before! If you are wanting to have a professional
