The State Plumbing Board continues to fulfill our fiscal responsibilities as well as protect the health and welfare of the people of Louisiana initially doing so by moving forward to the enactment of the Louisiana Master Plumber Licensing Law in 1990. You must pass an examination in order to be licensed to perform or install plumbing work.

In addition to the Master and Journeyman Plumber licenses, the State Plumbing Board issues Water Supply Protection Specialist (WSPS) endorsements, Medical Gas Installer licenses, and Medical Gas Verifier licenses. Chairman of the Board, Mr. Smith is from Baton Rouge and represents the Louisiana Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors.

Vice-Chairman of the Board, Mr. Craft is from Ragley and represents the Louisiana Pipe Trades Association. Secretary/Treasurer of the Board, Mr. Fabra is from Metairie and represents the Louisiana Pipe Trades Association. Mr. Bourgeois is from Gonzales and represents the Louisiana Association of Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors.
Services
Registered apprentices may engage in the art of plumbing only when they are under the direct, constant on-the-job supervision of a licensed journeyman plumber. Direct, constant on-the-job supervision means that a licensed journeyman plumber will supervise no more than one apprentice on only one job at a time.

The Appeal Request Form and its accompanying documents must be received by our office no later than 10 days prior to the Board Meeting.
