J.D. holds an engineering degree from the University of Illinois and has studied at the Chicago Botanic Garden in their Ornamental Horticulture and Garden Design programs.

Green City Gardens revised and reworked my backyard landscape. I was impressed by the excellent ideas JD had. He saved some of my plants, deposed of the ugly ones and planted several new bushes. Now my backyard is beautiful.

I really wanted to like Green City Gardens but what a disappointing experience. I met with JD to discuss a patio project, adjusting my calendar to free up time from work so we could meet and talk through ideas. We had a good conversation for about an hour to discuss design options, at the end of which JD said he'd have a proposal to me in a week or so.
In the following days I was really looking forward to receiving the proposal and getting going with the work. But JD never sent the proposal, so I reached out. He let me know he needed until the following week, so I said fine. We all get busy

Loved working with J. D., and was most impressed with his formal presentation of the many shrubs and trees available to me.
The job went smoothly, and when I decided to add 2 more evergreens to the project, JD made it happen that same day.

JD's creativity is unparalleled. I really enjoyed the process of creating a front yard landscaping plan with him--he's a dynamo of ideas and has a seemingly limitless knowledge base of what plants might work, taking into account family allergies, preferences, amount of sunlight, drainage. It's been a couple months now, and I think this has been a great investment!

JD just redid our front landscaping and a portion of our backyard, and everything turned out really well! His design was very thought out, in terms of when the various plants bloom, the colors, etc. He's amazing at sketching out his ideas right there in front of you, and open to collaboration and changes to fit your needs. I thought his pricing was very reasonable and was able to make slight variations during the design process to fit within our budget, which I very much appreciated. His crew was also very nice, and overall was a great experience. I would recommend them to anyone if you&apos

After a couple of phone tag misfires, made an appointment with JD to evaluate my home landscape. 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment, JD called to say he forgot. He promised to text me alternative times for the upcoming week.

Wow! The owner JD is extremely courteous, professional, and responsive. I worked with him to arrange snow plowing services for my parents because I live out of town. He took care of them and their driveway promptly, answered all my questions, and would personally check on their property any time there was a concern. What a relief to know I don't have to worry about their driveway during the snowy Chicago winters.

I love JD. He is very prompt with home visit, proposal etc. He has great ideas and really knows his plants. Not the same old boring stuff. He understands shade and deer, my two biggest problems. Used him last summer and everything came back and is filling in nicely. Can't wait to see what he comes up with for my next project.

From start to finish, the owner , JD, was a pleasure to deal with. He spent time with us explaining what flowers and shrubbery would look best in the area designated. With then help of his laptop computer, he scrolled through dozens of different choices for the plantings. After he spent about 1.5 hours with us, he got an idea of our budget, and indicated he would get back to us when he could put together a schematic and cost analysis. He got back to us in a few days.

JD and the Green City Gardens team did an outstanding job on our landscape re-design project. JD is extremely knowledgeable about landscape architecture, passionate about his work, honest and attentive to his customers needs. We had other bids for our project but JD's professional approach won our business and we made an excellent choice. Pricing is fair and we love the end result of his work.
