Founded by Ara Sergenian in 1930, Sergenian's was Madison's premier oriental rug retailer, with a storefront on Monroe Street. In 1962 Ara sold the business to his sons, Marsh, Ron, and Paul, who moved the business to State Street and changed the emphasis to wall-to-wall carpeting. Five years later, Sergenian's retail showroom moved again, to our current location at Todd Drive and the Beltline.

We recently worked with Sergenians on 2 tile projects and flooring for two rooms. For starters, our sales/design contact Carman was the best! She is so knowledgeable about all the products and was extremely helpful. The installers for all three projects were professional, timely, and did a great job with the installation! Such a great experience! First working with Wes was just what I needed because it’s so hard to make a decision with all that tile to choose from! He gave me great advice in addition to showing me many options for tile. He made it fun and never let me feel like a pest that I probably was…maybe…
Also, during measuring, AJ was another source of really good advice making sure we made good decisions, especially those little backsplash tiles. I love those backsplash tiles! It’s a small but perfect accent and I love it just the way it is.

Recently we replaced our old bedroom carpet. Sergenian's made the process pretty stress-free. From picking out the best option for the space, scheduling, and getting the room prepared, everything went smoothly. The customer care was evident throughout. This was an excellent experience from start to finish. The online survey is helpful to get started. Carman M. reviewed my responses and had some great options ready for me when I visited. the store. Scheduling was great. Because of the pandemic, everything (not just carpet) is behind schedule. Carman told me that it would be about 10 weeks before the carpet was installed - which was fine. Installers (Tom & Rob) arrived on time and did a wonderful job. I could not be more pleased with the entire experience with Sergenian's.

The selection process was great, excellent help from staff for both carpet and area rugs. We purchased both an area rug for our dining room and carpeting for our family room and bedroom. I cannot say enough about how stellar the service has been. The area rug was delivered and our salesman spent time getting the placement just right and then he and his helper moved our previous rug upstairs for us and placed that rug perfectly. Our carpet installation was also stellar. The installers were respectful, pleasant and did an A+ job.

I recently had new carpeting installed in my master bedroom. I couldn't have been happier with the service provided by Sergenian's. I was received promptly and was welcomed with professional, friendly, and knowledgeable service by Carman. She was easily able to help me figure out what I wanted even when I wasn't sure what it was. Not only did she know the right questions to ask me, but she was able to answer all of my questions to my satisfaction. We had an amazing experience using Sergenians for carpeting our basement. Mike was fantastic to work with, we really appreciate all of his help. Installers were on time, 7:30am sharp, the morning after the Bucks won the finals! They were professional, respectful, and made sure to clean up before they left. Hands down would recommend Sergenians to anyone looking for carpet!

We went there on Sunday 8/26/18 and the workers all seemed like they were rushed and doing us a favor by even answering a question, kind of rude... we got there at 2:00 PM and they were open until 4:00 PM
Will never do business with a company like that! We went to Floor360 and they along with Carpets Plus were so nice and friendly and we didn't feel rushed at all...

We've been working with sergenian's for 2 months and they've been excellent. Our floors got damaged from a kitchen faucet leak. Our property manager referred us to sergenian's as they were familiar with the condo units at our condo.
We are first time homeowners, so we were lost in this whole process. Didn't know anything about floors. We connected Tom from sergenians with our home insurance agent. They handled everything and explained itnto us in a way we could understand without being condescending.

Carpet side is awesome! Flooring side not so much. Would recommend skipping any hardwood or floor refinishing for other vendors with stronger service.
However - loved everything whenever it was carpeting and was disappointed flooring didn't have the same positives. I hope they can figure this gap out and provide good service for floor refinishing or needs.

I had my hardwood floors refinished and am really happy with them! Russ is awesome—super knowledgeable and friendly.
Overall, the experience was great! (I did live elsewhere during it because I was getting multiple rooms done. Also, I haven't been in the showroom yet and mainly worked with Wes over the phone and Russ in person.) I'm sure timeline varies, but my job was 4 days + 3 days to cure. There was a slight odor at the end, but very minor and only lasted a couple days.
