At PMA, our professional personnel bring specialized experience that fosters a balance of technical, planning, design, research, and management expertise, with personnel meeting the Secretary of the Interior's Historic Preservation Professional Qualification Standards. We excel in technical leadership for historic properties, and provide historic advocacy leadership within our community.

We are sought after by our clients for our sensitivity to adapting and renovating existing and historic properties. PMA Founder and Principal, Peter Meijer AIA, NCARB, leads the firm with over 30 years of professional experience. Peter's career has focused largely on building envelope science and historic preservation, specifically historic renovations and condition assessments of existing and historic buildings.
Services
As buildings, neighborhoods, and sites age, their long-term survival is dependent upon adapting to cultural, environmental, and technological advancements. We recognize that each existing and historic resource will have its own unique character defining features, either physically defined through the use of materials and construction techniques, or emotionally and culturally defined through community shared values.
Our approach to building envelope science has evolved to meet the higher demands of building performance required of historic and existing buildings. With our knowledge gained from thirty years of research and professional experience, we apply the latest technologies and investigation techniques to our building analysis and assessments of existing and historic structures.
PMA brings enthusiasm, flexibility, and proven skills to our documentation of cities, neighborhoods, properties, and cultural resources. Our portfolio focused on existing and historic properties proves especially beneficial when working on private projects using local public agency incentives, or the federal Historic Tax Credit (HTC) program.
Grant High School is a historically significant resource, and a neighborhood landmark that contributes to the greater community it serves. As part of Portland Public Schools Long Range Facilities Plan, Grant High School received a modernization and historic rehabilitation led by a multidisciplinary design team.
Pacific Tower is a 15-story tower constructed in the Art Deco style. It was designed by Bebb and Gould in collaboration with John Graham as a hospital serving specific populations including veterans, the U.S. Coast Guard, and indigents. The building was originally symmetrical, with the primary entry facing south and two 8-story wings extending towards the south.
