These guys came out as stated and worked until our yard was completely done, we were so pleased we gave them both $100.00 tip. the lawn looks absolutely great. I signed up for SML services to come for an appointment at my house on a Sat for an estimate. The time window was 10am-5pm. I arranged to be home the entire time and they ghosted me, never showing up and with no communication that day. They had the nerve to call me on Monday to reschedule. As if! Do not recommend.

Jerrell and his team did an estimate quickly and took their time to get the job right. I had bay scaping done through Riversmart DC (sign up!) and I wanted the plants rearranged. Landscaping of any kind is not cheap, but I was glad to see they took their time, listened to my ideas, made suggestions, and handled the plants with care. They worked for about 4.5 hours to move about 15 plants, add new soil, pull weeds, edge, and mulch. First of all, great service and great people! They came a day earlier than I expected which was incredible given the lack of DC service provider punctuality. The prices were reasonable and the instructions for maintenance were very user friendly. We had sod, three bushes, and a Japanese Maple tree installed to revamp our decrepit lawn.
Bonus: We also had a mosquito treatment that instantly killed those pesky little irritants! It was like they all dropped dead instantly.
SML Services will be back to maintenance my lawn every two weeks and I’m looking forward to it!

I haven't had the pleasure of using SML services though I have been in touch. They are speedy with their responses and efficient with their email correspondence. Their estimate was on the higher side (the most I've been quoted yet), so we decided not to move forward but I'm pleased with their response time.

I hired SML on behalf of a customer who contracted me to manage some work on his rental property, which included removing some shrubbery and tree roots from a fence line in the back yard. Despite my best efforts to keep communication flowing smoothly, I found their communication throughout the process to be lacking, which made setting up getting the work scheduled and completed a bit difficult. The work that was done was barely acceptable. There were several areas that were left undone or otherwise left messy. The shrubs and roots were mostly cleared, but not well enough. Jerell and his team did a great job totally redesigning my front yard. Laid sod, built a retaining wall and mulched around my trees and bushes. Attentive, on time, communicative, and fast. Did the entire job in about 4 hours. I’ve already had neighbors stop by asking for their information. Would gladly give them my business again in the future.

Contacted SML to install some sod in my backyard and the got me a quote within one day! They even installed the sod that same week. The process was hassle free and extremely fast. It's been 21 days since my sod was planted and it looks fantastic. The crew did a great job of leveling out and prepping the ground prior to installing the sod. I'd recommend them to anyone!

These guys redid my lawn last spring and have been helping me keep it together ever since. They were reasonably priced and talked me through a number of different options. I know NOTHING ABOUT lawn maintenance so I appreciate the owner taking the time to answer my silly questions.
After my yard was done...several of my neighbors commented that I had the best year in the neighborhood (Which is obviously what I was going for).

We were in a jam. The person who we contacted originally (recommended from the contractor) tripled the price. I went on Yelp and contacted SML. Wow. They came immediately and helped transform the slab of concrete to a lovely green garden. SML was the answer for us and we would definitely use them again. Also, the price was fair. No hidden costs.

Sent an email on 5/1 to request service as they had previously done work on my yard and did a great job. I received a response on 5/2 requesting photos of the area being serviced to which I promptly responded. On 5/7 I received an email inquiring as to whether someone from the landscaping department had reached out to me after receiving the photos. I advised that no one had reached out and I was still waiting. To date I have not received a response and decided to move on with another company.

I have used SML services on two occasions. First was last year to build a retaining wall made of 6x6 lumber. They did a terrific job. The thing is indestructible. The second time I used SML was March of this year to plant several cypress trees I bought online. I also asked them to raise some flag stone used for a path from the driveway to the house. Over the years, the path had sunk to far into the ground. Again, I was very happy with their service. Their price was very reasonable. Now, the only thing I would find fault with them is that they did not come as prepared as I was expecting them

I contacted SML, spoke to someone, and sent the requested information.
I didn't hear back from them for 2-3 weeks.
Eventually I received a response asking if I was still interested. I replied that I was and mentioned that I never heard back from anyone. I didn't receive a response to that, either.
I can't imagine how responsible they'd be if they ignore someone trying to hand them business multiple times.

They came in very high with their estimate so I did not utilize them so I could not give more than a 3 star rating. They were almost the only contractor out of about 6 I contacted that followed up, provided a quote, and were willing to work with me on getting everything scheduled. I've done my homework even with not as many estimates, and it was clear they were bidding high.

It has been SUCH a pleasure to work with SML Services. I really needed a quick turn around on cleaning up our back and front yard... mowing, edging, hedge trimming, junk haul away. They came and gave us a quote within two days of reaching out. Jerell walked through all our needs/wants with us. They provided a detailed quote that allowed us to determine how to prioritize the work. A week later they came and worked for several hours! I was really impressed by the team, their effort, and definitely by the end result. I love how communicative they are, and how easy it is to manage the work/payments
