Sustainable Architecture encompasses new and remodeled Green Residential and Commercial design spanning across resource conservation, energy efficiency, and passive solar design to advanced renewable energy technologies. Its goal is to support and enhance quality of living, reduce negative impacts on the environment, and achieve substantial utility cost reduction for the life of the building.
Lawrence Schechter's 45 plus years of experience as an Architect have significantly contributed to the practice of Sustainable Architecture. This site provides his work in case studies, educational materials, and access to resources on Sustainable Architecture, and Beyond Sustainability to living enrichment.
A 'sense of place' is a term that suggests a subtle human connection to the essential character and ecological nature of its setting. We can easily connect to that essential character in a forest, along the meandering stream, or while viewing majestic mountains. A subtle energy invites us to our ancient roots and wonders of the natural world.

It's one that goes far beyond just a basic change in design approach. A sustainable design philosophy requires decisions at each phase of the design process that reduce adverse impacts on the environment and site without compromising the bottom line. An integrated approach positively impacts all phases of a building's life cycle, including design, construction, and operation.
Lawrence is highly experienced and a great listener. We are extremely happy with his work, and find him creative, talented, and professional to work with. The process of the creation of our home together with him has been a very satisfying experience. The green building technology, the net zero energy cost features and the spacious floor plan within a smaller home drew us instinctively to it.
