Cheryl Heinrichs Architecture is a boutique modern architecture studio located in Bend, Oregon and Olympia, Washington. Our signature style blends modern architecture with sustainable design, and adds a creative touch. We specialize in custom homes suited for the Pacific Northwest lifestyle and climate.

Our client roster is kept intentionally small, so that we can stay intimately involved with the building of your dream home. We work closely with you throughout the process, from selecting the site, to choosing the floor coverings, to monitoring construction.

Whether our clients are living in the Pacific Northwest or as far away as Florida, Alaska, or Hawaii, they rest easy knowing their vision is being honored throughout the construction process.Living and working in the hot/cold, dry/snowy high desert as well as the temperate, moist marine climate, we have first hand knowledge of the materials and details needed to address each region's specific challenges.

This nature-loving, independent retiree wanted a well-lit, energy-efficient, modern home designed for aging gracefully. We tucked her large agenda into a small home with an even smaller ecological footprint. After working closely with the homeowner to select a sunny lot, we created a home that is extremely energy efficient and much more.
A chef and a doctor with a young son and an active, outdoor lifestyle wanted a green, healthy, modern house designed around their diverse needs. Cheryl Heinrichs Architecture created a comfortable "Base Camp" where they could rest and rejuvenate between adventures. This energy efficient, green home began with super-insulated walls.
Starting with a site considered unbuildable and owners committed to sustainable architecture, this contemporary home provided numerous design challenges. We overcame the first challenge by securing a Conditional Use Permit from Deschutes County that would allow a home to be built on this property. The next challenge was to reconcile requirements that seemed to oppose each other.
Living in an Eichler home in San Francisco, and anticipating the birth of their second child, this couple was motivated to build a healthy home in the country where they could raise a family in year-round comfort. They chose a sunny, pastoral lot perfectly suited for passive solar design. And they chose Cheryl Heinrichs Architecture, because of a shared passion for sustainable, modern home design.
This striking, warm contemporary home design started with substance and culminated in an abundance of style. Prompted by a shared love of wood, this couple knew they wanted a recycled timber frame home. Beyond that, they wanted it to be as environmentally friendly as possible, which made energy efficiency a top priority.
