A Registered Architect in the state of New Mexico, Robert Maze owns and runs Desert Sky Designs. Originally from Taos, he attended University of California, Berkeley School of Environmental Design for a BA Architecture in 1989, and received his Master of Architecture from the University of New Mexico in 1998.
Desert Sky Designs has developed long standing design-build relationships with some of Albuquerque's best small scale residential contractors. The design-build approach involves the builder early on in the design discourse. This often helps foster good communication between the parties and gives the client a clear idea of what to expect out of the process.
Desert Sky Designs believes that arriving at a project's "will" through intuition rather than intellect is ultimately better for the client and for our built environment - that emotional spirit dies upon dissection. Likewise, the spirit of freedom is lost to a work of architecture, or a city for that matter, that is broken up theoretically (or physically) into derivative pieces.
