FORMATIVE Architecture is led by partners with an affection for the American Southwest Landscapes and a passion for impactful design.
We are committed to creating SUSTAINABLE, high-performance architecture which minimizes the built environment's impact on our planet. Owen is a founding principal of Formative Architecture with over 10 years of architectural design and project management experience. Owen grew up in various towns throughout New Mexico and graduated from Farmington High School.
Owen enrolled in AutoCAD and multiple construction management classes at TVI while attending UNM's school of Architecture where he completed his Master of Architecture degree. Before founding Formative Architecture Owen worked at RMKM and Dekker/Perich/Sabatini were he gained valuable knowledge working on and managing a variety of project types.

My company needed a to scale floor plan of our location so we could easily plan process flow improvements. Formative Architecture came to our location and created a diagram we could use with our CAD software for this purpose. They provided a nice PDF and inquired about any changes we would need before the final product was sent out. We received what was discussed during the walk through and are happy was the final product.

Formative is truly the best. My wife and I recently bought our first home -- a loft-style apartment downtown. We wanted to take advantage of the high ceilings, and had the crazy idea of building a mezzanine loft inside our home, but needed a LOT of help figuring out what was possible, and what we could afford. We're so glad to have found Formative Architecture. Owen and Steve went above and beyond showing us multiple 3D renderings of ideas they came up with for our place. Owen designed a redwood pergola structure to support an Infinity Canopy shade system for our back patio. He worked with us through several iterations to come up with a design that was artistic and complied with city building codes. The 3-D rendered configurations were very helpful in visualizing the alternative designs, and Owen was able to e-mail updates in real time for our review. We are very pleased with the results.
