In the counties of Montgomery and Prince George's the Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission(WSSC) is the authority that's mandated by federal and state regulations to protect the drinking water from contamination due to backflow from unprotected or improperly protected cross-connections of backflow assemblies.

I would give more than five stars if I could Durance has been recommended by neighbors and I now know why. Bobby arrived ahead of schedule. He tracked down the source of the leaking spot on the fist floor ceiling to the piping behind an upstairs shower. He was knowledgeable, responding to my many questions and explaining what had to be done. Drop cloths and Bobby's cleanup took care of what could have been a messy situation. He even came by two days later when I thought I saw evidence of new leaking on the ceiling near where the damage had been.

So awesome. Walter was super patience with me in trying to assess my plumbing issue over messenger and the phone. When we figured out what it was, I purchased the part and he rushed to get a team member here to help me. Bobby, the plumber, was amazing, came twice (the first part didn't work) before realizing my issue was more involved. He didn't charge me anything for coming out twice. And I look forward to working with them to finally get it fixed.
Plumbing is not a fun part of home ownership but I'm confident I found a company I can trust that does good work! I would recommend

Finding Adam at Durance Plumbing was a stroke of very good luck. He always arrives when he says he will and he gets the job done every time. He is a gentleman in every sense of the word. Instead of doing a lot of talking he does a lot of working... and has managed to fix every thing we ever asked him to. Our house is 44 years old we now we call him for all our repairs and installation of new sinks and faucets. He is the best!
I can't say enough good things about him. I have had plenty of plumbers over the years but none have held a candle to Adam.

We had a leak coming through our ceiling light in the shower over a weekend. It was very easy to schedule an appointment through Yelp messaging, and the plumber Adam showed up promptly in the promised window. Adam wore PPE during the entire visit and was careful to use gloves and shoe covers as needed. He efficiently ran tests to determine the problem and took a picture for me so I didn't need to poke my head into cut up drywall and wet insulation. I have a new plumber! I have a new plumber!! Wow! Around 3 am I was looking up plumbers and came across Durance Plumbing. I sent a request for a quote and heard back first thing this morning saying someone could come out this morning. I jumped on it! Kirk and Matt came and made repairs to two bathroom toilets. I am beyond happy and told three friends about them already! Definitely keepers!! Thanks guys!

Adam is definitely the guy you want on speed dial! The extensive knowledge he has is beyond any plumbers that has ever worked on my home. He provides affordable pricing and never tries to upsell. My water heater went out and he was quick to respond and got out to my home as soon as he could. He provided top quality work and also took adequate precautions to protect the floors and walls. I cannot recommend highly enough!

We originally called Durance out to do a back-flow test at our office. They came out quickly and took care of the job. Since then myself and others that I work with have had them come out to do work in our homes. They are very friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. Very happy that I found these guys and I will definitely be using them in the future.

We got three estimates for the work identified from our home inspection, and chose Durance because they were reasonably priced, a small business, and did not try to up sell us. They also treated us with respect, which is more than I can say for another well-advertised company who provided one of the other estimates. We ended up upselling ourselves and getting a new water heater instead of just the repairs. We felt like Adam was honest. The work was done well and fairly.

Excellent all-around experience with Durance. Kirk was responsive with providing me a quote (within a couple of hours through their website contact form), and even more impressively, they honored the quote despite the fact the job ended up being more involved/taking much more time than they expected. Adam was the person who did the actual work, and he was prompt, friendly, courteous, and competent. My experience was so good that I selfishly hesitate writing this review because the more popular Durance becomes, the harder (and more expensive) it will be to book them for future jobs!

More than a month ago, we requested a quote for replacing our water heater with a tankless one. We figured we'd beat the holiday rush, etc. Not with this company.
Adam showed up 1/2 hour early for our service call, then promptly left when nobody answered the door. (My husband was in the shower.) Showing up early is all well & good, but I would expect a service provider to at least wait until the appointed time before leaving. He was exceptional. I scheduled an appointment, had him come out and look at our issue. Not only did he quickly address our problems, he also went out of his way to point out issues that might occur in the future (old house, previous shoddy work, etc). At no point did he try to up-sell me or push additional work. I would use him again in a heart beat. Very reasonable prices too. Look no further, exceptional plumbers here.

I was getting reminders from WSSC about backflow prevention testing. Turns out I have a non testable device and the part needs to be replaced every 5 years. It had come up on our home inspection but I had forgotten to get it taken cared of. I consulted the list on WSSC site for approved companies to work with and selected a competitor. That competitor was mostly responsive but did not have the part with them and gave me a very high quote to replace.
