McGlashan Architecture has been designing beautiful places in California, Oregon and Washington since 2004. Principal Architect Scott McGlashan, AIA, grounds his practice in a deep respect for the environment and a love of building. After graduating from Yale University, Scott earned a Master of Architecture degree from UC Berkeley, specializing in environmental science, energy efficiency, and construction techniques.
He has experience in cabinetmaking, carpentry, boat-building, and custom fabrication. Before launching McGlashan Architecture in 2004, he spent two years teaching construction skills as a Peace Corps volunteer in the West Indies and five years working with Leger Wanaselja Architecture, a small nationally-recognized ecological design/build firm.
He is licensed to practice architecture in California and can tackle projects anywhere. Now he enjoys working closely with clients and nurturing the many relationships involved in the creation of beautiful places. McGlashan Architecture seeks creative projects from elegant new homes to artful custom furniture, from small commercial buildings to well-crafted residential additions.

I found Scott through magazine photos of a remodel he did which featured a green living roof. I was really taken with his combination of fresh style, beautiful materials and clean, unpretentious lines. When we met I was equally impressed with him. As other reviewers have said he is a delightful person who has a contagious enthusiasm.
We had lived in our home for over 18 years and had our own design ideas and needs and a familiarity with its quirks. He really listened to all of that and integrated it into his beautiful design; which included a living roof.
Our remodel included floor plan changes

Before choosing an architect, we took our time to research, which included interviewing six architects in person. We could not have been happier with our choice: Scott McGlashan.
For starters, Scott is an incredible listener who took to heart all of our expectations and desires -- not an easy feat when a husband's ideas are vastly different than this wife's.
Every time we asked Scott to sketch out another idea because we weren't sure, we generously and patiently came through. Whenever we had a question or concern, he was responsive and called back.
Along the way, Scott was

Our company recently built a large addition designed by Scott McGlashan to a home here in the Bay Area. The project was a great success from conception to completion - due to Scott's design expertise and his professionalism.
Speaking as a builder with over 30 years of experience, I've built a lot of projects that were bigger, more expensive, fancier etc. This one will stand in my memory because the finished house works in every way. It looks terrific from both outside and inside. The proportions of the addition complement the original home as do the details. It's not too
