We are a collaborative group of designers who believe that architecture has the power to transform lives and enhance communities. We approach each project as an opportunity to provide creative solutions to complex programs through observation, exploration, and experience. We seek to understand the physical and cultural context of each project and recognize that each project, regardless of scale, is an opportunity to challenge the broader definition of design.
Services
Founded in 1965 as Padgett + Freeman Architects and rebranded as PFA Architects in 2015, we have been a leader in the architecture and design community of Western North Carolina for over 50 years. Our projects include the programming, planning, and design of new buildings as wells as the renovation and transformation of existing structures for large and small clients alike.
For all building projects, we provide services from programming, pre-design, and schematics through construction documents and construction administration. Provided within our services are structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing system designs with reliable and experienced consultants. Daylighting consultation is also available when required for the project.
We begin each project as an opportunity to provide creative solutions to complex programs through observation, exploration, and experience. Our approach to design is not based on an aesthetic style, but rather a rigorous design process that explores people and place through the examination of site, function, and cultural context.
BIM, or Building Information Modeling, is a model-based process of designing and documenting the design of a building in 3D. This 3-dimensional digital representation of a building is the foundation from which plans, sections, elevations, perspectives, schedules, spreadsheets, and many other useful tools can be drawn.
