Very disappointed with our service. Recently did a tune up with our furnace and paid a little over $400. We found out parts they “replaced” were actually just replaced the previous year and were still in fine condition. Our furnace was working prior to the visit and 3 days after stopped. We were told in order for them to come out we would have to pay another $100+ for them to look at it unless they decided the problem wasn’t the parts they repaired. Our HVAC system was not properly cycling in "auto" setting. A service tech was out the next day to help diagnose the system. We confirmed that the PC board was malfunctioning, and that the cost of replacement exceeded the residual value of the older unit. We agreed on the installation of a new, high efficiency unit. Negotiations on price went smoothly and were more than fair. The installation team was out within a few days. The installation went flawlessly. I needed to replace a ceiling furnace that was very difficult to access. Jerry figured out a way to relocate the new furnace in a way that minimized the space utilized. It was done in a very professional manner. They also assumed my annual maintenance earlier this year and alerted me to issues that my previous provider had not. They are very thorough.

AC went out on one of those 90 degree days. I had been having issues with it and tried to have the guy I bought it from come out to check and he never showed. Cold called JC Heating and Cooling at 8 am and they were there by noon. From the lady who answered the phone, to the gentleman who called back to make the appointment and kept me updated (Mr. awesome), to Michal the technician who came out, everyone was professional and very customer service oriented. I had a great overall experience replacing a broken 25-year-old boiler with a new high efficiency condensing boiler. Jerry provided a detailed estimate and took the time to discuss multiple brands and pros and cons with traditional versus high efficiency units. My experience getting quotes with other HVAC contractors was very different. Most would only provide a verbal ballpark and 2 other quotes for condensing units came in almost twice as high. Ultimately we decided on a high efficiency wall mounted unit that opened up a ton of space in my small basement giving me effectively an extra closet

Let me clarify something to JC Heating... Contractors don't look on Yelp before they do business with a consumer. You have it backwards.
"Get everything in writing and all their money in advance"?
You're the one doing the writing with a quote and I paid IN FULL up front with a credit card.
"And his word cannot be trusted"? What word would I give you, the contractor? What would I give you in writing? A promise not to seek recourse if I get lied to and screwed? Both of these statements are about as dumb as you can get. Unfortunately for you, others will see

A special thanks to JC Heating & AC! Our furnace stopped working at 3:30 pm on a cold, snowy Friday. My regular HVAC company, with whom I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years, couldn't get a technician here for over 24 hours. I called JC and they were here in 30 minutes. Chris was courteous, and quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem. You have a new customer, JC!!!!

A guy showed up after-hours and charged a fortune just to help me locate a gas leak (which I understand after-hours going rate is expensive, that is all fine and dandy). He was really nice but couldn't find the leak for me even though the fire department and nicor confirmed leaks. Anyway, that I wasn't really that upset about because another guy came the next day and found the leak. Nicor and the FD have higher grade equipment (However the guy didn't check my flexi-line from my dryer which ended up being the culprit that another HVAC guy caught).

I was hesitant because this yelp score wasn't awesome... but I had JC install zoned heating in January, and they were not just the best HVAC experience I've had in Chicago, but probably one of the best experiences with any business ever, they even cleaned up some of the mess some drywallers left. They were fast, and super polite. I didn't think the bill was anything but average.... So I came back to see why that yelp score was low.... then i realized it was just one kind of stupid two star reviews, who begins his two star review with the quote "Their work is of the highest quality

Their work is of the finest quality, but their service costs are outrageous. $489 for 1hr 15min of service. We just had the blower motor replaced on our 9-year-old Rheem Prestige furnace. RIPOFF. The motor was still under warranty, but they only warrantied their labor 5 years.
$489 for 1 hour & 15 minutes from the time they rang the doorbell until I locked the door behind them. $391.20 per hour? It's good work if you can get it.
When this unit is out of warranty, I'll be giving all my business to B & S Heating & Cooling in Palos Hills. They said their labor charge
