The Green Ant buys and sells vintage mid-century modern furniture. Because new pieces come through the door all the time, you never know when the next Eames lounge, Platner coffee table or Saarinen Womb chair is going to appear in our store. The inventory is constantly changing. In other words, we can't simply order in another one of something you like-it's vintage and possibly even one of a kind.
Services
Sure we sell, but do we buy? The answer is, yes, The Green Ant always needs furniture to resell. We're always in the market for vintage Herman Miller, Knoll, Thayer-Coggin, France and Son, Widdicomb and many others. Danish Modern is always on our want list as is the fun pop art furniture from the 60s and 70s.
After World War II, a new era of simple, clean design came about that today we call mid-century modern. This distinctive furniture from the 40s through the 70s had a look and feel all its own. It was modern, fresh, futuristic and optimistic and was made from new materials such as fiberglass, aluminum and bent plywood.

What a divine find! On a road trip back to CA from CO we stopped over in Salt Lake and found Ron and his delightful shop. Ron clearly has a discerning eye - everything is classic, original and, as far as I could tell, authentic. Aside from a great curation, Ron is a hoot to chat with. And honest! He made sure we saw some repair work on the underside of a Bertoia chair we purchased before we committed to buy it. If you're in to mid century modern at a fair price go to the Green Ant.

I'm in the market for a white mid century modern couch. I also have an eye-patch from my recent cornea transplant. I was there Saturday and was followed around by the owner without him asking what I was looking for. But, because I wasn't part of couple I was treated like I was going to stuff a Chaise in my pocket.....Too bad! He could've taken down my number in case a white velvet couch came in. And YES i know you know I am. I'm the only blind girl in town that came in on 01/02.

The Green Ant was my favorite mid century shop that I visited when I drove through Salt Lake.
Lots of high end mid century, vintage, and space age goodness all around the shop. EVERYTHING was so over the top cool and there was so much of it.
Chairs, dressers, sofas, dining tables, chandeliers, danish credenzas, lamps, I was melting in piles from all the deliciousness.
Worth checking out just to see the unique and funky time capsules of the 60s and 70s. Friendly staff too, even played some punk music while I was in there (thanks for that)

This shop is great. They have been expanding with a number of similar shops to provide an INCREDIBLE amount of furniture to choose from.
I have at least a dozen items in my house from The Green Ant. Big furniture. Wall art. Tchotchkes and even some clothing. I commonly buy birthday gifts for my friends here. We even have a number of their pieces at my office.
Authentic, hard to find items, locally sourced.
Great supporter of Gallery Stroll and other events.

This place is amazing. Ron, the owner, keeps an incredible inventory. Looking for important mid-mod pieces to complete your home or office furnishings? The Green Ant has it. Need an intriguing gift, easy. Whatever you do, get in here. I have several beautiful pieces from Ron's shop around my house and almost as many at the office. Go check it out.

A few years ago, we bought a Selig couch from the Green Ant. The owner unzipped one of the back cushions to show us he'd had "the cushions" refilled with new foam and batting. He also told us the couch was upholstered in a durable woven silk. When we got home, we noticed a sand-like substance coming out of the seat cushions. Turned out the back cushions had been refilled, but the seat cushions still had the old, disintegrating foam in them. So we had to pay an upholsterer not a small sum to restuff them. Moreover, when we looked at the tag on the couch, the fabric turned out not

Bad experiences in this store.
The last one was after we bought a framed poster, for more than $130.
Once arrived at home we realized the glass was cracked in one of the corners,
essentially we had to pay $80 to make a new glass.
The store didn't take any responsability on this saying "we sale old, used stuff".
I still think there is a difference between used, old stuff and BROKEN.
I will not go anymore to this place, and I suggest you to avoid being treated as a customer the same way I was.

I give Ron Green huge props for maintaining shop in a not so mid-century kind of town. But if the Nelson, Eames, or Florence Knoll enthusiast in you is looking for something, the Green Ant is the place to go.
With a collection of mid-century classics and some unique pieces thrown in here and there, this shop is one of my favorite hidden treasures of Salt Lake.
I was not fortunate enough to be able to afford much of what furniture the shop had to offer when I lived there, but they also offer rad home accessories. I've picked up a 1940's silver plated coffee set, as well as a 1970&apos
