The term "green building" has been pirated for many uses that have little to do with sustainability. We were early adopters of sustainable design and were one of the first to be Certified as Green Building Professionals through Build It Green. Bill Wolpert's architectural education at Cal Poly was primarily focused on passive solar design that is finally coming back into the mainstream.
Starting with proper orientation and sun control, buildings with a well-insulated "shell" are far more comfortable before mechanical systems are required and less expensive to operate. Our purpose is to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve natural resources and minimize waste, create healthy indoor environments and minimize toxic construction materials.
