Unethical and unprofessional. Before my move, the salesman was very good at assuring me that my move, including a piano, would be treated with the same care that they would treat their own possessions. When they tried to deliver the piano, they damaged it (over $600), left it the garage, and told me to figure it out on my own. They also damaged other items, marked up the walls, and could have cared less about my possessions, because they weren't their possessions. I moved from MN to FL in early June. United Van Lines has been in possession of my items since MAY 28, my delivery window was 6/2-6/9; I have yet to receive my items. My truck has been sitting in a lot during the hottest days of the year while my belongings melt. The customer service that I have received is abhorrent! The fact that you cannot deliver on a service that was sold is one thing, the fact that no one can be bothered to respond to me only adds insult to injury. I am telling everyone that will listen about this and have even contacted the local news station and the BBB. The worst part

My move was from MA to CA...
Laziest driver I have ever met he was supposedly numbering boxes and wrapped furniture as it was put on the truck. When things arrived there were 4 boxes missing and 3 pieces of furniture broken. The top of antique deal they promised ha have a professional fix. Some idiot put two screws half way in it, there were NEVER screws in this antique, they ruined it. They NEVER put furniture they took apart back together worst moving experience I have ever had.

An absolute disaster of a move. Ended up costing me thousands of extra dollars to correct their mistakes. Mayflower and United were no help and while the team tried to respond quickly once the move was finished, a month later I am still cleaning up their mess.
Oh and they'll keep charging your credit card for random things with no explanation.

Don't ever use this company. We paid $21,000.00 out of our own pocket for a cross country move, and the delivery was terrible with the movers refusing to move pieces upstairs/downstairs to our rooms of choice. Both pieces had been moved across country before, moved up and down stairs to lofts, etc.
One such move in 2004 had been conducted by United Van Lines prior to our move. Then the mover took the piece he refused to move.
Could not call our coordinator due to it being a Sunday, and felt that we could trust this guy, Ben. Later found out from our claims rep at United,

One of the worst experiences I've ever had with any business in any industry. I tried to move a car with United and it was a string of broken promises, inadequate communication and horrible performance. I am in the service industry and have had my share of mistakes so I try to be understanding. This was bad enough that I will never contact United Van Lines again. In the end, after all of the trouble, they couldn't deliver and never shipped my car. If you go with United after this review, you don't have anyone to blame but yourself. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

For some reason not all of the pictures are loading so I'll explain what all they damaged. United Van lines damaged my couch, both dressers, table chair, coffee table and my mattress. Avoid United Van Lines at all costs. Not sure if I am posting this to the right place because they are nationwide. But they are H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E. They lie. They told me every box would be accounted for using a label with my name on it, a bar code, and that I could tell where my boxes were at any time. Oh and they lied anyway saying my truck would be the same truck picking up as dropping off so when I saw their inventory tag was a tiny little orange label with a number on it, I felt defrauded but not as worried.

My wife and I recently relocated from Las Vegas, Nevada to Houston, Texas. Finding movers was a difficult process until we came across United Van Lines. They listened to what we wanted and structured everything around what was important to us rather than what they wanted to do. They gave us a very reasonable delivery window and sent a driver named Sonny who was phenomenal. He made the process smooth and kept clear lines of communication. Unlike broker companies that give a quote that doesn't reflect the actual cost or service, the quote was binding. It came in thousands of dollars under a competing company. The service from start to finish was very professional. We were packed up, moved, and unloaded by United. The packing process took all day and the two guys were so hard working and diligent.
The moving truck arrived one day ahead of schedule. Everyone was courteous and professional.

I relocated from Washington, DC to Sacramento, CA. United was the only company that guaranteed exactly what day my belongings would arrive, rather than giving me a range of dates. Just as promised, my stuff arrived first thing in the morning on the day they said they it would be there! The time between pick-up at my origin and drop-off at my destination was 12 days -- quite reasonable for a 4,000 mile move.
I used their container moving service, where they load your belongings in containers that are then moved on flatbed trailers, rather than your items being loaded and unloaded individually each

First of all, this company was not our first choice. Our employer recommended it as one of the three moving companies we could choose from for our move from Virginia to Colorado. I honestly picked it because it had the least worst reviews of all the companies.

BEWARE - BROKE ITEMS & LIED ABOUT IT
United / Planes subcontracted to a local company to prepare our grandfather clock for shipping. Subcontractor broke the clock while doing so. They lied to us and to the BBB saying it was broken before they touched it. United's movers plastic wrapped two of our four couches; not sure why they didn't plastic wrap all of them. One of the non-wrapped couches was white. It arrived covered in black streaks on the bottom 8 inches as if it was dragged through dirt. This is not about their moving service (although I would hesitate greatly to use them after this experience).
This is about their extremely reckless / dangerous / illegal driving.
Yesterday I was doing a school drop off, had a kiddo in the car. On 1st ave S, there is a lane that proceeds straight, and a lane that is a forced right, side by side. Of course the lane going straight is backed up, while the forced-right lane is often empty. So what a lot of jerks do, is get in the forced right lane and then try to cut over into

United Van Lines has made my husband's and I move from California to Oklahoma a absolute NIGHTMARE.
We got a quote of $4600 dollars ( IT IS NOT CHEAP) to move our 3 story condo from California to Oklahoma. The horrible service started with the pick up. We scheduled our pick up for 10/26. We did not get word on what time they were coming to pick up our stuff until about an hour before they were coming. Was recommended by Untied Van Lines to use Shipsmart, due to low weight of our items. Items sat in a facility for a month after being picked up from our house before they were packed and transported. Items were missing, damaged, and dirty. This company owns no trucks or facilities, they are brokers. Go with someone who has custody from start to finish. I felt I was doing a disservice by not writing this review.

If I could give negative stars I would! This has by far been the WORST moving experience I have ever had, and I've moved a lot. I've lived in 11 states in the past 11 years and have never had a move so delayed and damaged.
They picked up our items June 27 and guaranteed their delivery window between July 5-10th. I called on the July 5th because I hadn't heard of an update of when our items would arrive.
