Personally visit your tree to evaluate what trimming is needed and why. Offer pruning options customized for your tree and your objectives in a proposal with tree trimming costs clearly itemized. Gruett Tree Co has been trimming our trees for over 20 years, maintaining healthy trees important for the community (and safety) They have an Arborist who advises on tree removal and overgrown roots - these things can be costly for new homeowners. I must write this review. I have had my Silver Sheen trees trimmed before and the other company almost killed them. This company was so polite, on time, clean, wore masks, had a great attitude, and was friendly. I will definitely hire this crew again. They trimmed both sides of the trees which was not easy and they totally cleaned up after themselves. I cannot say enough good things except that I am so happy to have found this company.

We've had the opportunity to work closely with Vince and Tom on several tree projects and I highly recommend both of them. We have a number of very old and sick Torrey Pine and Olive trees on our property that Vince & Tom have carefully nursed back to health. Both of them have been very responsive and accommodating, meeting us after hours and answering all of the many questions we asked. Both Tom & Vince are highly trained & "speak tree" and we trust them implicitly. If your trees need work, you need Gruett!

Our mature ficus tree was damaged thank to a construction crew and Gruett was called to the rescue. You cannot find more qualified, expert professionals to deal with the health of your trees. We were extremely impressed with the knowledge of the team members and their thorough evaluation of the tree's condition and recommendations for treatment.
While here, they brought to our attention impaired and unhealthy top growth in our mature cedars and liquidambars. The Polyphagous shot hole borer beetle had invaded all of our trees and treatment was recommended. So thankful to Gruett for noticing

We have used Gruett for years for keeping our trees trimmed right (not just whacked shorter so they just grow back bushier than ever). We were told by our HOA that two of our trees were infested with borers and had to be removed. Gruett sent two teams: one to cut down and cart off the tree trunk and limbs and another to dig out the roots. They advised us about having a utility check performed, they suggested trees with a better chance of success in the drying climate, and offered to buy and deliver them to be planted after the roots were out. They are reputable, insured, and professional.

Hack job! I paid over $1,000 to have my trees trimmed and Gruett butchered them. Gruett has trimmed my trees for at least 10 years. The trimming job they did this last time looks as if it was done by an untrained crew. As Gruett was non-responsive for weeks after my initial complaint, I had another company out to look at the trees. I was told the trees will need corrective pruning this summer, there is nothing that can be done at this time. Additionally, the trees are most likely in shock and there is a possibility that I will lose the willows. 8+ weeks after my complaint, Gruett sent out an arborist

I hate writing negative reviews but this is a must. We've used Gruett several times and have been generally satisfied with their services. However, it appears they have gone downhill and all of the negative reviews on Yelp are in line with what we've experienced lately, as follows:
1) Complaints about their accounting appear accurate. We've experienced similar debacles and unprofessionalism (particularly from Kara).
2) Tree stump wood chips flew all over my neighbors yard. After my neighbor complained (also a former Gruett customer), they were dismissive about having to come

Useless. Run from this company, they're unethical, over-priced and rude. Kara in AP is disrespectful and hung up on me without properly providing an invoice and contract. Vince says he'll talk to a supervisor and Diana says I'll fax you. All to no avail. Be aware, their prices are double any other legitimate tree trimming and arborist reports (done for free with Sims Tree Service and Specialized Tree Works) then any other company.

I've used Gruett several times and found their field teams to be very competent. That said, I've been trying to get an arborist to look at my olive tree for the last two weeks. The first time, they said a specialist would call me back and set up an appointment, they never did. The second time I called, we set up an appointment, I took time off from work and he/she never showed up, never called. There are plenty of good tree companies in Orange County, I suggest you pass on this one until they get some people in the front office that care.

We had a huge Pine tree removed from our front yard and the crew did an awesome job. It took 5 guys and 2 truckloads to complete the job. They were very professional and used many safety precautions. This tree was very close to the front of our house but these guys protected our windows and the job was completed without any damage to the house or our yard. Would not hesitate to recommend this company.

Gruett has trimmed my two California Pepper trees yearly for about three to four of the last five years. I was always happy with there professional work and their pricing was also competetive.
This year I wanted one of the pepper trees trimmed and the other removed, as well as some other small bushes trimmed.
