Founded by lifelong friends Sean Flynn and Mike Steele and conveniently located in New Haven, Vermont, Silver Maple Construction is a collective of experienced artisans and talented builders who offer a progressive approach to all your custom-building needs. Over the years, our personal values have allowed us to create a company where we emphasize respect and responsibility for the project, our customers and the environment.
This beautiful traditional Vermont vernacular farmhouse was designed with the idea of single level living, with the ability to open and expand the home's second floor when family and guests are visiting. The bunk room and loft looking down on the living room were designed as a perfect kids hideaway.
This project was imagined as a small apartment over a workshop but as demand for a larger workspace grew so did the corresponding home. After a few years serving as work space the woodshop was moved off site and the lower level was absorbed into the home. In its final iteration, this super insulated, geo-thermal heated Timberframe-hybrid home is a showcase of meticulous details, Silver Maple Construction quality and beautiful Woodworks cabinetry.
A home replete with custom features, creative woodwork, and unique metal work, this home combines wood and metal in a way that ties it to the outdoors while creating a warm and welcoming interior. Light simply bounces around the interior of this modern home. Unique solutions were designed and built for storage maintaining a modern, open feel to the space.
For this carriage house renovation we wrapped the barn in a new exterior adding all of the insulation and mechanicals as we went, but we kept the interior intact so that the inside still has the same barn boards that were there when we started. Clean and updated on the exterior, the interior remains rustic while having a new modern kitchen, bathroom and living spaces.

I cannot believe I am writing a review for SM, I viewed their website so MANY times wishing they accept our project. Not only does our basement look amazing, but it brings many memories of an incredible experience working with Mike, Silas, Evan, SM team and all of Dennis’s Team. My wife, Sue, and I purchased a 40’ 5th Wheel RV. Sue is an Interior Designer and the stock interior wasn’t going to work. We needed a company to help us with custom cabinetry.
Sean from Silver Maple Construction met with us and he got the vision and was enthusiastic about the project.
Clearances and weight were big factors in the implementation. We are extremely pleased with the work SMC completed.
We have put 10,000 miles on the RV and it has performed perfectly. It is so comfortable and functional. We live in it 7 months a year crossing the USA every year.

Silver Maple Construction did a complete rehabilitation of my home, an 1810 village farmhouse with at least 50 years of deferred maintenance by the prior owner. This involved knocking down (and rebuilding) one poorly done 19th Century addition, gutting the original structure down to its sheathing, and salvaging/restoring the previous glory of a well-built but poorly maintained ~1890's addition. You name it, they did it: all new electric, plumbing, HVAC, floor systems...
