H-Towne & Around Remodelers is owned and operated locally by J.R Smith and is proud to be accredited by the BBB. Our Houston remodeling company received two National Contractor of the Year awards, one in 2005 and another in 2008, presented by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry for the design and build of two breathtaking projects.
After founding H-Towne & Around Remodelers, Inc., JR Smith decided to redirect his time, money, and energy toward a side project, Guns To Hammers. This 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization provides wounded veterans with Americans With Disabilities (ADA)-compliant remodeling and renovation services, making their homes easily accessible, helping them live independent and manageable lives.

My wife and I contracted with Htowne & Around Contruction, Inc. after Hurricane Laura did major damage to our home due to extremely high winds and heavy rain. Htowne and Around team headed by Kevin Fields in our area worked tirelessly to help us return our home to pre-disaster condition. One of the most impressive things about the staff of Htowne and Around is how well they communicated with our insurance provider. That alone was a tremendous benefit. They not only use the same computer program as do insurance companies to determine damage estimates but Htowne and Around is extremely well versed

These guys are real pros. We even had a couple special challenges with plumbing and electrical -- all good. JR is great to work with. Actually listens and gives good advice. Clearly he's been doing this for many years and he has a trusted team with real skills. Pricing was right on target for what we expected. Finished well ahead of schedule.

We met Kevin right after the Harvey flood. We agreed in principle and later We got a 47 page estimate with great detail. We originally felt a little apprehensive, after all the owner was “John Smith” and there were stories of people getting scammed after Harvey on the news.
What became of this was a very harmonious working relationship with Kevin. He frequently walked the job with us, revising the estimate as we decided on various details and identifying the best subcontractors. We saw him almost every day. We did have an issue with the plumber and Kevin and a carpenter came over at 10:00

I would leave zero stars if I could. Kevin forgot to call to schedule an appointment for our quote. I had to follow up three days later to make an appointment for the following week. He also missed my appointment. Meanwhile, my family's home is still in shambles from water damage.
I saw all of the great review's for this company. Unfortunately, I wasnt able to experience a 5 star service.

We have used H-towne for several projects including a massive master bathroom and two bathroom remodel that helped get our house sold in one day.
They have done custom work for us in our new home along with fixing a huge mess and dealing with the insurance adjuster for us. They are extremely professional and their team of guys are fantastic. We highly recommend them for simple to extreme projects.
