Founded by John (Jack) Wiley, Stone Center is a 3rd generation company that began supplying and installing building stone and flagstone in the early 1950s. Over the years, they expanded to include cut and polished hearths and mantles into Stone Center projects, eventually moving entirely into custom dimensional stone applications.
John's grandson, Tim, took over operations in 1985 and has overseen everything from sales to cutting, polishing and installation at Stone Center. With 30 years in the stonework industry, Tim Wiley is a Certified Stone Inspector, Stone Forensics Expert and has been a member of the Marble Institute of America since 1984.
Stone Center recirculates water for the stone cutting process to reduce consumption and donates remnant materials to the Portland Rebuilding Center. Small scraps are taken to a recycling center to be processed into gravel. Tim is the third generation in this family business. He started working in the stone industry over 33 years ago, back when his father owned the company.

Services
Granite is a naturally durable material that will keep its beauty for generations with simple and easy care and cleaning. Your granite will receive one application of sealant prior to installation, and a second application after installation to ensure stain resistance. Use a damp cloth to wipe the stone or a liquid dish soap to remove oil or grime from the surface.
Each company publishes their own care and maintenance guidelines. These are usually available for download on their websites and will also be provided to you by Stone Center, Inc. after your stone is installed. Use a damp cloth to wipe the stone or a liquid dish soap to remove oil or grime from the surface.
Soapstone is softer than many other natural stones, it may have a tendency to scratch, chip, or crack. Soapstone has truly remarkable natural heat retention characteristics and has been widely used for masonry heater fireplaces, wood stoves, fireplace liners, and pizza ovens. Hot pots and pans may be set directly on soapstone without leaving any burn marks on the stone.
While it may look like solid rock, natural stone is a porous material. Spills can soak into these pores and leave marks and stains on your countertop. Penetrating sealers do not change the look of your stone, but simply add invisible protection. They are not a surface coating and do not protect against etching.
At Stone Center, we understand that communication is the first step for your successful stone project. We begin by listening to understand your needs and expectations, answering any questions you might have. Our sales team's experience and knowledge will assist you in choosing the best stone application - and the ideal stone slab - to suit your individual needs and desires.

Working with Stone Center, Inc was fun. Jose was excellent at reaching out, communicating and saw our project through from the very first consult to well after install of our marble in our bathroom remodel. I met Jose at their impressive showroom. He showed me around their showroom and where they store and fabricate the stone. Both he and Chris were alway responsive and answered all our questions. I cannot day enough about the great customer service we received and the craftsmanship is equally impressive. We will definitely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone.

I called the Stone Center because i had read the reviews saying how helpful they were to people with small jobs. I needed a small piece of Carrera Marble to compete my bathroom backsplash remodel. A rude, dismissive woman answered the phone and informed me they had many big jobs and they were 8 weeks out. She said they could not help me, but I was welcome to come down and go through their free scrap pile, but it wouldn't do me any good because I would need a water tile saw to cut the piece. I have a kitchen and another bathroom remodel coming up, but I will go elsewhere for those.

I had a teeny-tiny little project that was impossible to get help with. Then on a lark I walked into Stone Center and violá - help was given.
An amazing tiny piece of marble was perfect and the Stone Center staff finished it for a dresser top as if it were a fine piece of sculpture.
Super nice folks here. Very helpful and kind even if you are a small fry customer. When I need this kind of help on a remodel, this is the place I will go.

We highly recommend Stone Center. We used them to redo our counter-tops from granite with no back splash to carrera marble an carrera marble back splash. Tim, the owner, offered excellent advice to questions we had, without trying to push us in any one direction (e.g. should we go to one level island, should we do farm sink). He provided time and cost considerations to decisions we were making which were very helpful. We pondered Quartz seriously but really finally decided to go with real stone. Stone Center described the sealing they do on the marble and the experiences they have seen with the

We hired the Stone Center to fabricate and install quartz countertops with under mount sinks for our kitchen, bathrooms, and utility room and they did an amazing job. Thank you Dale, Ken, Jose, Sam, Dave, Cesar, John, Bill, and anyone else involved with our project, it has been a pleasure working with each one of you. This company was professional, timely and clean; and we highly recommend them.

I was looking for a remnant piece of *something* to use as a ledge for the niche in our newly tiled shower. I looked online and saw that Stone Center, Inc. was in a good location for me to pop into after work.
I went in and described our bathroom and shower tile. A piece of marble was suggested and we then went over to the remnant area. Voila...the first piece in the remnant section was perfect! I needed it 60" long and at least 4" wide and it fit the bill. Took it as is for a great price. Having them cut it would have added about $150 to the price but was told that if we have a tile

I went to six different highly recommended tile and stone places in the Portland area to investigate my options for my new island counter top. Stone Center was a breath of fresh air! They were helpful, honest and openly discussed prices with me for the different stone options - unlike so many other places around Portland, who want to keep it a big mystery. How can you make a decision without having an idea of prices?
I ended up buying a gorgeous peach-colored marble remnant that looks outstanding in my kitchen and I get so many compliments! The price was excellent with no hidden costs and the
