John Hasty the product of an indentured childhood, that is, my father placed a paint brush in my hand at the age of six. I served a classic European-style apprenticeship program under my fathers tutelage. Prep work and lots of it, then on to the next phase, then the next, and so on until all aspects of the trade became second nature.
Interior wood finishing encompasses a wide array of glazed and distressed multi step processes. Bleaching, dye stains, glazes, distressing and tinted waxes are often employed to obtain that Old World appearance. The clear coat systems we offer include sprayed finishes, conversion varnish, catalyzed lacquer, water borne lacquer systems.

When my old house needed painting, I naturally called John Hasty at Patrician Finishes. I had seen his work and know that he really focuses on the prep work so the finish lasts and lasts. John is the real deal, he really knows his wood and the right stain to bring out its natural beauty. We are finishing a whole house remodel and hired John to stain our unfinished doors, windows, and exposed beams. He knew just what to use to make them look fantastic and gently guided us towards wise color choices. His team was courteous, professional, clean, and overall top notch. I can’t recommend them more highly.

> Some years ago we were remodeling our home. Our house had painted wood cathedral ceilings. We had all the ceilings in the house sand blasted to remove the paint and bring out natural beauty of the old growth Douglas Fir beams and decking. After doing this we found some problems with the ceiling in the kitchen. Some areas had unpainted ceiling wood which had absorbed oils and smoke from years of cooking and had discolored relative to the clean sand blasted wood. Our kitchen cabinets had been in 15 years and they looked it! John promptly assessed the work and we agreed with the work to be done. His team was on time, courteous and neat. Some of the work went to the paint shop and some done on site. The work was perfect. John was great to work with, as were his painters, Jose, Byron and Issac. They cleaned up everyday and worked hard. We would use John anytime and would highly recommend him to all.

We have an external door that needs refinishing/painting every few years due to the sun exposure. John Hasty's team worked miracles with the door years ago so we were able to correspond with John via email this time. He asked a few clarifying questions, agreed on a fair price, and scheduled the work -- all via email.
On the scheduled day, Jose and Miner showed up. They were conscientious with meticulous attention to detail. It wasn't a small job -- it took them a day and a half. The result of their outstanding craftsmanship is an almost brand-new door.

I recently had John Hasty update my kitchen cabinets. They are 25 years old, have a wood veneer, and were worn in many areas. I did not want to go to the expense of replacing/refacing, still love the look. My cabinets look practically new, and John exceeded my expectations for the outcome. Extremely satisfied with the work. We chose John and his crew to paint the exterior of our home in January 2018. They did a great job and we were especially impressed with their preparation which is the most important part of the job. We loved his crew and the way they worked with us to get everything done just the way we wanted it.
John was really helpful in picking out our colors and painted fairly large sections of our house with trial colors so we could pick just the right one. We've had lots of complements from our friends and neighbors. We would recommend John and his crew and will to go to him for our next painting

We've used John for numerous projects at two different locations: Interior room painting, exterior whole-house painting, various touch-up projects, restoring a solid mahogany front door from paint to its original wood finish, and even plaster repairs on a window sill. John is a personable kind of guy whose crew are always on time and always professional. I have yet to spend any time doing any post-job cleanup, and that's a sign of a true professional.

We contacted Patrician Finishes to paint our kitchen cabinets. John Hasty and his crew did a beautiful job of prep, sealing, priming, and double color coating the builtin boxes. The final finish is so smooth it is hard to belief that it was brushed instead of sprayed. They removed all the drawers and doors and spray painted them at their shop and the finish is just perfect. We were also pleased with the scheduling of the job as we agreed on a start date and John called the morning of that date and said his crew would be on the job the next morning and check with us on the color matching, which

I his bid far from the lowest but came referred to us. So went with referral.
Told us would be couple months prior to completing our project. We said ok.
But everytime his memory of our project as we followed up with him was terrible.
His personal attention to details during the project was at best poor.
I have been asked 3 times since he completed our home, for a referral,

John and his crew painted the exterior of our home in August 2014. They did an amazing job. Prep is so important and they took their time and really made sure all the prep was done correctly, every detail taken care of. They were professional, quiet and neat. The job site was picked up and cleaned everyday.
John helped us pick a color that was right for us and he was very patient as we went through the process. His proposal for the job was very detailed. The results were worth every penny. I highly recommend John and his crew. I would not hesitate to hire John for my next painting project.

John and his team did a great job and showed tremendous integrity in restoring my garage door. The door faces south, and the finish had turned cloudy from years of intense sun exposure. John initially restored the door with a procedure intended to save me the cost of fully stripping the old stain. However, after we found that the initial damage was worse than thought and that the door was starting to discolor again after several months, John volunteered to strip the old stain completely and refinish the door at no additional cost.

I worked with John Hasty to do some work at one of my clients' office in Menlo Park. I am not from the area and on a tight schedule with traveling onsite. John was very accommodating with the short time I had in Menlo Park. He helped to sand, patch, and paint whiteboard paint on a very large wall and also did some miscellaneous sanding, patching, and painting in other areas.

John Hasty & Patrician Finishes are top-notch. Our double front doors had serious sun damage but the first two contractors who looked at them passed on the job due to the intricate finish. John provided a reasonable quote and was very clear on what to expect of him and his crew.

We just had the exterior of our two-story home in Palo Alto repainted by Patrician Finishes. It was a pleasure working with John Hasty and his crew. They showed up as promised, power washed and prepped the house. Then did a fine job of masking all the windows and hardware before painting the house. The final effect looks great--all at a fair price.
John is a real pro who is a color expert. He did a great job of color matching the paint for us since we didn't have any records of what the original paint color was.

When we bought our home five years ago, we splurged on a new, very expensive front door with a special finish that looked like wood grain. Five years later, the finish was failing and I was worried that water would damage our investment.
We called out several painters for an estimate. One told us that the door couldn't be refinished, but would need to be painted (?!?) black!
Fortunately, my husband called John of Patrician Finishes. He did a lovely job of refinishing the door. He was able to save the original finish and coat it with a coating that would protect it from the elements
