East Side Studio Architects has offices in the famous old Wright Tavern in Concord Center. We specialize in high-end residential, senior living, and hospitality. Our award winning historic preservation often supports work in all of those spheres. Julia Miner, AIA, also an accomplised narrative artist, loves to draw out your unique "story", working closely with you to bring your dreams to life.

Our regional architecture uses local materials and methods, diminishing the carbon footprint and contributing to "The Poetry of Place." This evocative lyricism and energy in the built environment comes from generations of response to climate, materials, and culture. Our clients' needs and desires, along with a myriad of details, get distilled into a beautiful and efficient art form, in a process similar to writing a good poem.

As a child I was always making creative projects - drawings, books, buildings. These would help satisfy an adventurous spirit. I'm still transported by the creative process of exploring a space to be built in the future. After joining the first class with women admitted to Dartmouth College and receiving a Master of Architecture at Yale, I worked for award winning design firms in Connecticut, New York, and Boston.
East Side Studio Architects is a full-service architectural firm, experienced in all aspects of project delivery. We recognize that the construction process can be an extremely stressful ordeal, if not handled properly. We aim to make the experience as pleasant and successful as possible. We tailor our services and scope of work to the individual project.
Since moving back to New England from Arizona, where buildings were about escaping the searing heat and strong sunlight, I've worked for two decades in a beautiful studio on the east side of a historic brick building. The light pouring through the twelve-foot-high windows sparks early morning creativity.
We hired Julia to help with the renovation of our 1890 Georgian house after seeing the beautiful design of her own renovated farmhouse.

Julia brought a larger vision for the master suite than we had imagined, restoring the integrity and symmetry of the large spaces that had been chopped up into small rooms, turning the sleeping porch into a library with a whimsical loft connecting to the children's rooms above, and creating a light-filled closet and bath. She helped us to restore a dated three-season porch to the original outdoor porch, adding removable screens.
Ask any architect what the most significant aspect of a project is, and they'll respond, "The design!" Excellent design is essential. A good contractor's craftsmanship is also a must, but even the best builder won't get a good result from a bad design. Building without the right planning is as dangerous as getting up late in the morning, not de-frosting your car, and driving with the windows iced up.
