We recently contracted with Schaap Moving and Storage for our move from our home of 34 years to a new home. I can't speak highly enough of the job they did. The crew was four of the hardest working gentlemen I have ever seen, there was no damage to any of our belongings (including some valuable paintings about which I had been very concerned and some expensive Danish teak furniture), and the crew was so efficient that the final bill came in several hundred dolars lower than the original quote. This correspondence is to express my total, complete and mind-numbing dissatisfaction with Schaap moving company, a contractor for United moving company as well as Mayflower.
When it finally came time to move the house was packed up just fine, truck was loaded and my parents went to a hotel before getting on a flight to North Carolina. After staying in a hotel for 3 nights, then my 1-bedroom apartment, being assured by Cathy, the sales manager at Mayflower moving company in Albany, NY that the van should be there by Saturday, August 12th. Our contract did however say

I don't drive the nicest car in town, but before Schaap moving touched it, it drove. Their process, is to pick up your car, bring it to their mechanic to be inspected before transport, then it is shipped. I received a call from Todd (the man in charge of shipping the cars), saying that my CV joint, had just FALLEN OFF in his mechanics hands. They were going to bring the car back to my driveway, but I had them take it to my mechanic just a few miles away...since without a CV joint, it no longer moves (even though they DROVE it onto the flat bed that delivered the car to Schaap...).
