City Barrel Brewery is a comfortable dining and drinking atmosphere that is perfect for celebrating an anniversary or just grabbing a beer after work. Our space offers numerous community tables as well as smaller tables of 4. There are a few things we think make our taproom very unique. Our backdrop behind the bar is made of reclaimed wood from the world famous Nelson Atkins Museum of Art.
The wood was installed in 1930 as gallery walls, until it was removed during a renovation in 2017. If you look closely, you can see many holes in the wood. The holes are from nails that hung priceless works of art, and now this same wood holds our liquid works of art. We also worked with local craftsman to build custom tables and chairs made of Missouri white oak, which is the same wood as our sour beer tanks called Foeders.

If you're in the crossroads area you have to check this place out! First off, they make GREAT food, but I was lucky enough to stop in on a weekend where they were collaborating with Buck Tui bbq! I wish I had more of an appetite but I was so extremely pleased with their burn end french fries. And of course let's not forget the beer! I've yet to try a beer there that I didn't like, and there are plenty to choose from. Overall from the food, beer, staff, and the general ambience this place is at a level above most!

Excellent food, great beers, and good service. We loved the way you could buy a beer and hang out outside while waiting for your table! The "day drinker ipa" was a standout! They also had bet good sours and barrel aged beers. Probably my favorite brewery in Kansas City! This was my first visit but I hope to be back.

Took a much needed break from quarantine to enjoy an amazing collaboration dinner with Sura Eats. It was fantastic from start to finish! The team of cooks and servers were so kind and generous, and did a good job of trying to keep everyone safe and separate. Looking forward to a chance to eat from the regular city barrel menu, and also super excited about an upcoming noodle shop opening from the @sura team!
