After having multiple fencing companies provide quotes for a backyard fence, and tell me the work would have to wait 16 weeks (!!), I am thrilled to have found First Fence. Jesse in sales was incredibly responsive and helpful in determining the needs for my backyard fence (cedar scalloped wood), and also helped me through the permitting process with my town's village office. Years ago, First Fence installed our privacy fence. Our first salesman Jon was wonderful. Our fence was and still is wonderful. Still get lots of compliments. After our install, we had an issue that First Fence immediately rectified. Fast forward a couple years. Jon is no longer with the company. We got assigned to Eric Anderson, who in the beginning was responsive. Recently, we had additional money to add to our fence. At first, Eric Anderson was responsive and asked for photos. Called for an estimate for a new fence at our house. A person from First Fence came to do the estimate, didn't leave any contact information and never gave us an actual estimate in person or via email. I called the company to ask for the estimate with no response. Horrible customer service, apparently the fence industry is so good they don't need more business?

Stay away!!!! All of the post have popped out of the ground probably because they didn't dig deep enough. And the fence panels are all discolored. And the work was only done not even 5 years ago. And it came with a life time warranty. I've been calling them to come fix the the problems but they keep say they can't come out because of covid. They just don't want to stand behind there work. So look elsewhere!!!!!!!

I'm so disappointed with First Fence. I have been trying for months to get the lock on our gate fixed (installed January 2020). We have used First Fence at 4 properties and referred them to many friends/family.
Our sales person has been unresponsive. The office told me the owner was going to come out to address this issue 2-3 weeks ago, and just this week I was told someone would call me back. I'm still waiting.
I'm extremely frustrated! I will never recommend this company. I hope this review is helpful to others. They should stand by their work!

This company came recommended to me by David Gust. He is the owner of Century 21 Gust Realty and a great friend of mine since 1986. They were very professional and the office staff are truly a breath of fresh air. They walked me through the entire process starting with obtaining the permit needed from the Village of Lombard. The installation crew were on time and very professional. I already have 2 friend's calling my sales guy James for their homes. Thank you First Fence for exceeding my expectations.

Laughing at someone calling in complaining is unacceptable. saying you will transfer to a manager and it turns out to be a coworker unacceptable. maybe you did maybe you didn't touch someone's gate however professionals say im sorry ill come out and take a look at it I don't think we did but id be glad to check. I work in customer service daily. I… work with contractors whom destroy someone's property from time to time even when we believe no doubt customers wrong we don't laugh. I'm so sorry this occurred I would be glad to get someone out on such and such date and take a look.

What a TRANSFORMATION! First Fence installed our new, white PVC fence last year and it doesn't even look like the same yard! We did a lot of research in the area and after meeting with them and receiving a lot of recommendations about First Fence by word of mouth, they were the clear winner.

Had First Fence take down an old fence and put up a new one several years ago. It looked fine, but this year my handyman was staining it and noticed it was wobbly. After some investigation, several of the posts weren't sunk in concrete they're just in the ground, so they're rotting and making the fence unstable. Not cool.

Once we decided to use first fence it took forever to get them out fir the quote for the black aluminum gate.
The price was right so we went with them. I've regretted it since. Yes the installation was good. We've had issues with the paint peeling, the aluminum on the inside where the gates meet. The paint idea bubbling. It looks bad. Brackets keep coming loose. I've been calling them steadily for over 2 months. I get nothing but excuses. Now the owner doesn't even return my calls. Im so sick of talking to them. The customer service is terrible. My warranty is up

Inaccessible, dishonest, poor quality. First Fence dug through a sewer line and filled with concrete without telling us. It was obvious they hit it since pieces of the sewer were found all over. This caused major plumbing backups in our house and damaged our floors. They were not responsive to our calls or emails about the matter.
Aside from that, quality of the fence is terrible. Gates are already sticking. No brackets or screws were used. Everything is nailed and multiple nails are loose/sticking out. The cedar is of the cheapest grade and many boards are warped and have factory writing on

I am Completely satisfied with my First Fence experience, where they installed a new 6' privacy fence. My experience began with the estimator (Jesse C) arriving on time--professional, courteous, and highly knowledgeable. He described each fencing option in detail and helped in our decision making process. They also secured the permit, contacted JULIE, etc., so completely autopilot for me.
The installation also took place within the estimated timeframe, and the crew was skilled and clearly took pride in their work.

First Fence did an excellent job. The fence looks wonderful and the install went perfectly.
The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because I had to pull the permit myself. I was told by the sales guy that I could pay more for them to pull the permit, but he might not be able to pull in time for the installation date, so I pulled it myself. I know they're a small, family owned, company, and it may be tough on resources with all the municipalities and rules that IL has, but I'd rather they included this service in the price.

What can I say. Called them on a Thursday and Lisa set me up with an appointment for the following Tuesday. They gave me the 8-10 A M slot and Chris was right on time. We walked the property and talked about replacing posts. This would have been the second replacement project in four years. I asked for a complete replacement price and left Chris to do his work. When he gave me the price for the new fence I jumped right on it. The estimate was detailed and accurate. He applied for the permit that day. Two days later I got an email from Lisa saying they'll be there the following Monday!

My cedar recommended alley fence has deteriorated and bowed in ;sections; flimsy gate. The slats are very rough and looked great one season. It was the one that looks the same from both sides. I would do vinyl a second time around. The salesman was nice, met my schedule, pay in advance and sign an agreement.

We recently ordered our fence from First Fence. They came to take down the old fence even though they did not have enough new materials. Now they say we need to wait 4-5weeks for the materials to arrive! Our poor neighbor can't let their dog run in their backyard because there is no fence.
In addition, the gate they have installed doesn't close with the latch because of the poor design.

In the fall of 2016, First Fence Company was hired by my neighbor to install a fence along the property line between our properties. While digging the post holes for the new fence, my husband alerted the crew that they were on our side of the property line by at least 1 foot. The crew assured my husband that the fence would be installed only on the… neighbor's property. When we arrived home from work, we found the entire 80 feet of fencing to be located one foot onto our property. We alerted our code enforcement officials who demanded that First Fence remove all fencing and concrete footings
