Secondary suite (or accessory dwelling unit) is an urban planning term used mainly in North American English for a self-contained apartment in an owner occupied single-family home / lot that is either attached to the principal dwelling or in a separate structure on the same property. In British English the term "annex" is used instead.

Owner builder loans are made for borrowers who are building their own home. For these loans, the owner may be acting as the general contractor for the project or may be a professional home builder themselves. Many lenders are leery of these loans because they find it risky to work with anyone but a licensed general contractor with an established reputation for quality.

The plaster is mixed with fiber (typically paper, fiberglass, asbestos, or a combination of these materials), plasticizer, foaming agent, and various additives that can reduce mildew, flammability, and water absorption. Fire-resistant ("Type X"), different thickness and multiple layers of wallboard provide increased fire rating based on the time a specific wall assembly can withstand a standardized fire test.
