C. Alan Nichols, a Maryland licensed arborist for over 40 years, founded Appalachian Tree Service, Inc. in 1984. Mead Tree & Turf Care purchased Appalachian Tree Service in 2020, and continues that long tradition of quality and service that Alan and his family provided. We welcome the opportunity to perform your tree and shrub care needs.
We offer tree pruning services using state-of-the-art equipment and a professional "eye" for what needs to be done in order to keep your trees healthy and attractive. Our Certified Arborist will identify what type of pruning is appropriate to achieve the best results. There are several reasons to prune, including hazard reduction or general maintenance.
Sometimes it is necessary for a tree to be removed for health, safety or structural reasons. Saturated, wet soil can also weaken roots and lead to a downed tree. With our experience and equipment, we take down trees in a careful manner, minimizing waste and invasiveness to your landscape. Our Certified Arborist is ready to advise you on the safest and most efficient way to remove your tree.
Trees can be damaged or even destroyed by a lightning strike, high winds, ice, or snow. Saturated, wet soil around trees can also weaken its roots and lead to a downed tree. Appalachian Tree Service has the experience and equipment to respond quickly, professionally, and safely to provide emergency storm damage services.
Trees are susceptible to a variety of pests and diseases, such as Dutch Elm Disease, Emerald Ash Borer, Volutella Blight, Japanese Beetles, and more. Our Certified Arborist can provide tree inspection and diagnosis to identify issues such as pests, diseases, or structural problems. We can take some preventative measures to help protect your trees for years to come.
