My love of construction began in the mid 80's when I was replacing all the redwood molding in a historical Berkeley home that had been damaged by fire. The painstaking focus was so captivating that I continued on to matching Victorian moldings, then custom cabinet making, and on to building all types of decks, gates, doors and windows- some of which used reclaimed woods before it was a selling point.
I became a General Contractor in 1991 and began remodeling kitchens and bathrooms, always building the cabinets for them. By 2000, I was building additions, as well as experimenting with small interesting projects and paint finishing techniques. In 2007, I was able to build an entire home for my family.
It is still my favorite piece of work to show potential clients. I believe building Green is a must. I prefer using sustainable and recycled products but the most important element is solid craftsmanship, beauty and functionality. I want every project to last long into the future.
