Owner Mike Richman spent years as a carpenter, contractor and as a developer before founding Custom Concepts.
This experience allows Mike to consider residential and commercial projects from many different perspectives. Architect Chris Bakkila brings vast experience in commercial design and Construction Administration from several small and large firms in the Midwest and the Northeast.

Over the years our small firm has produced a wide array of residential and commercial projects. Each client and project is unique, and each requires a different design approach and services depending on the needs of the project. Our designs vary from small, straight-forward projects, to highly complex residential and commercial projects that require layers of permits and approvals.
Oceanfront homes have been our niche for years. These sites are typically challenging, are controlled by regulations and are located in the harsh coastal Maine climate. We simply love these sites, and we use our creativity to find the best design solution to create a home that becomes an expression of our client's personality and will stay with the family for generations.
Many of our clients, who often live out of town, ask for our guidance to help oversee the project during construction on their behalf. As the designer, no one understands the goals and details of the project better than we do. There is a sense of ownership of the project on our part, which makes us want to ensure that all the details of the project are put together properly.
